I must agree, you have great writing poise and some good ideas. You're descriptive and i felt like part of the story. I must ask where do you get your insperation, or does it just pop in the head sometimes?
BTW: Not many people seem to read as much fan fiction anymore, I've gotten a few comments, from a good freind of mine online, but I've mostly shown mine to my friends, who LOVE IT, and some of my favorite teachers.

That's what I tend to do, I usually ask teachers to edit and stuff.

Thanks for the response, Quantum. Started reading Sixty Seconds to Death by the way - liked the opening - the fryer made me squirm which is how I'd gauge success!
For inspiration I guess I look in two directions: from a Bond pov what would be different/impressive/interesting in terms of locations/action scenes and subjects; then externally I look at what strikes me as interesting from the real world and try to fit it in to the overall Bond framework. then i sew it together with some imagination. The fun for me was seeing how I can fit stuff in - anecdotes, trivia. I thought of my story as a Christmas tree: you start with the overall shape, then the lights correctly spaced, then the bigger ornaments, then the samller, and finally the tinsel as you write... But maybe I'm just odd.
As for readers - limited to family, who liked it - not brave enough to share it more broadly & not young enough to have 'teachers' as such :-)
Cheers - and keep up the good work!

Many! But it's tough to be original, isn't it? In retrospect there's a few derivative things in Ghost which I hadn't realised, and that's after I editted out a couple of ideas after watching Casino Royale (I planned and started writing a few months before it's release). But for me that's what makes it interesting. i know for soem it's placing Bond in different eras, or filling in the gaps. For me it's doing something totally in keeping - the 'tick' boxes are no coincidence - while being imaginative.
I have a few ideas for another novel but they are more around the flavour and the atmosphere I want to create vs. Ghost. I heard an interesting snippet about the impact of an undersea earth quake in the Canary Islands upon the US eastern sea board...maybe that's got legs...
Before that though I have a short story planned out set in Banff, Canada. It's been forming in my head for six months and I think it's nearly ready...:-)
