My father went to his grave believing that James Bond was responsible for my moral turpitude. I've always been confused by that. What the heck does turpitude have to do with morals? I continue to paint, as I have since a boy, without needing turpitude or any other thinner.

Although my parents saw Dr No and From Russia With Love as a couple and my dad took me to see Goldfinger and the DN and FRWL re-runs, neither was into Bond, in fact my mother refuses to watch Bond on tv and my dad only ever watched it there when I was still at home - just another film to him. :(

My mom and dad were born in the late 1950's also. They are both Bond fans. My mom LOVES Sean Connery although I'm not sure which Bond film is her favorite. It's probably Goldfinger. She cannot stand Daniel Craig at all. He isn't Bond to her..and I really don't blame her. She also likes Pierce Brosnan. Roger Moore was too silly in her opinion but I think he has grown on her. Yesterday everyone was watching The World Is Not Enough just because it was on AMC (except my Dad because..my mom and dad aren't together anymore). My dad...I'm pretty sure his favorite is Pierce Brosnan. He used to play the Goldeneye 64 game a lot and would probably still play it if we/he had a Nintendo 64 still. Both my mom and dad love to listen to the Bond music and everything. He wasn't really hard on DC the way my mom was but even he said he doesn't look like a James Bond guy. Goldeneye is probably his favorite film even though I'm not too sure with him. My folks love James Bond. Even my brother. We're a Bond family. I don't know if they went to see any of the films when they were young though but they took us to see DAD and CR.

I enjoyed talking about my parents and Bond so much I thought I'd recognize some other family members who like Bond.

My uncle is probably most responsible for my Bond fascination. He used to see the movies and would later drag me to double and even triple features. One of the big things for me was he had the trading cards of the early films and I would always look at them after seeing one.

I also remember him buying the entire series of novels and reading them. I even remember glancing through Casin Royale and seeing the last line and recognizing that bad word. He and his family still love Bond.

My maternal grandparents also enjoyed Bond. My grandfather would always watch the ABC broadcasts. A special memory my grandmother shared with me was that the night before he passed away he watched Thunderball. My grandmother was always supportive of my Bond enthusiasm, even letting me store my collection at her house for years when I didn't have room.

Of course, I raised my younger brother to be a big Bond fan, although Star Wars is his main fanboy obsession. I am embarassed to admit he's read more of the literary Bond than I have. He's gotten me some of my favorite pieces of my collection over the years.

My wife watches the movies with me and is very supportive of my Bond obsession, but has yet to watch OHMSS. My daughter kind of likes the series but is more into the Jonas Brothers right now.

Both my parents are Connery fans. Although both saw CR and really liked Craig. Saying he was "As good as Connery", which from them was a huge compliment to Craig.

They thought Rogers films were OK(normally saying they were good escapism), but always said that Roger was the Saint. I don't think they paid much attention to the other Bond actors, other than watching a bit of one on TV. Although they know Pierce and that he played Bond.

My dad liked OHMSS. I remember him and I watching it on TV when I was about 10 or so. He always was impressed by the film. Although Connery was always James Bond to him. :(

My parents are of the Connery school of Bond fans, and whilst they enjoyed the Moore films and took me to many of them (TMWTGG was not one of them, as I recall being 8 years old and being relegated to a baby sitter on the evening they went out to enjoy it) starting with TSWLM. Up until that point, my exposure had been by them allowing me to see the Connery films on ABC.

I don't know if I ever persuaded either of them to either read the novels or consider the merits of Dalton's Bond, though I did manage to pry my father away from his (insanely) busy schedule long enough to attend DTBB twice (thank you Bryce!!!!).

My mother is 69 and my father is 71. My mother was the BOnd fan, she introduced me to Bond in the mid 70s when they would show them on ABC. The first BOnd movie my mom took me to see in the theater was TSWLM (I have seen every one opening weekend since).

Mom loves Connery. While she has seen all the other Bond films, for years, Connery was the only James Bond. Moore was just someone else playing the role. She never saw OHMSS when it was first released (probably because I was 1 1/2 when it came out)but we went to go see it when the Guild Theater in Portland was having it's yearly James Bond film festival in the 80s and she liked it (prefered Laz over Moore). She did not care that much for Dalton. She went with me to NY in 95 to attend the world premiere of GoldenEye. We both liked Remington Steele and thought GE was good, but thought they got too silly after that one.

She still said Sean Connery was the only James Bond...until Casino Royale. She thinks Daniel Craig may be the first James Bond who might outdo Sean Connery.

Dad will watch the movies, but never went out of his way to see them.

I showed my folks CR last night. It was the first time my mom saw Craig as Bond. She seemed to like it and Craig fine though she's not a huge Bond fan. She mainly likes Dame Judi Dench since she watches a lot of her films. My dad hadn't remembered a lot of it from the theater so he enjoyed watching it again.

Well, she liked the scene of him in his shorts. She says he has a good body but not a nice face. A lot of her friends think the same way.

My parents were born in the 50s:

My dad, who introduced me to 007 movies when I was in 5th grade (Dr No, rented on VHS), enjoys the movies, and will happily sit down to watch them with me. He talked my mother into buying me the latest box set of DVDs for last Christmas :( His favorite movie is LALD; he loves the scene with the alligators, where Bond runs across their backs. However, he's quite convinced that Sean Connery is the best Bond. The refresh in CR was a good thing according to him; while he didn't mind Moore and Brosnan, we agreed that they were going too far over the top, plot-wise.

My mom thinks the movies are a silly waste of time.

My sister (mid 20s), on the other hand, is willing to sit through the (very occasional) Connery 007 movie--but when her boyfriend took her to see CR, it didn't end well--too graphic for her taste.

In short, my Dad is great to watch Bond movies with, and it's thanks to him that I caught the disease :)

Many years ago I remember my dad saying "Yeah, the first ones were good and the last ones have been good, but in the middle they just got weird."

That probably means he is more of a Connery/Laz/Broz guy than a Moore guy :(

I haven't really discussed it with my parents.

Both of my parents were born in the 50's. My father usually watches Bond movies, when they're shown on the tv. My mother usually watches Bond movies now and then. I haven't really asked their opinion on bond. So I don't know which one they prefer.

Though my father said that he found both 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' and 'Casino Royale'.... different. I don't remember asking if that was a bad or a good thing.

My mother wanted to see Casino Royale, when I went home for a weekend, and brought the dvd with me. All I know is that she prefers Craig over Brosnan.. *wipes off a tear* Not sure about the older actors, and which one she prefers. My money's on Connery thought, since she watches almost every movie that has Connery in it :(

My mom told me today she thinks Craig is fine but she likes Connery, Moore and Brosnan better because they're funnier. I guess you could say she likes the more comedic entries and watches them for the exotic locations.

My Dad is 72 and my Mum 62. Dad read From Russia With Love in hardback when it first came out (yes I have THAT edition with the gun and the rose on my shelf!) having never heard of Bond before. He never forgot that shock ending, not realising there were other novels in the series! He would have been about 24-25 when he saw Dr No and my Mum in her mid-teens. Dad says everyone walking out of the cinema gobsmacked, that they'd seen a film unlike any other to that point. I think my Mum saw it on a re-release, when she was a little older (given James Bond was for grown-ups back then!)

But they both have the viewpoint that Connery was the first and probably best Bond, Lazenby was unfairly maligned even before the film hit the cinemas and Roger Moore was The Saint and simply lifted his Simon Templar character into the Bond movies. That said, they enjoy all the Bond films from down the years, although my Mum thinks Roger's are perhaps a bit silly and dated now.

My Dad and I however have the same sense of humour and love Roger's films as much as any of them! We can still kick back and watch them together now.

I never met my dad.

My mom isn't a bond fan so she doesn't care about bond or the film series. Though i wish she would have been. I was around 3 when AVTAK came out.Considering i saw Commando in the movies at that age i know i could have sat through AVTAK.That would have been awesome.

Liked him. Thought the film was half an hour too long and that the theme tune sucked as badly as all the Brosnan's did (same as I felt!)

My parents were born in the Bond 60's. My dad watched every movie in cinema, he likes the Bond franchise but he thinks that the Brosnan movies were too exaggerated with all the gadgets and the invisible car. His favorite Bond is Sean Connery's the same which I admire.
My mom never saw one of the Connery or Lazenby Bonds in the cinema. Her first moviee was a Roger Moore one. So she thinks he is the best one.
Since the release of CR my parents said that it's a new beginning of the franchise which is more realistic than the movies from the 90's. My mom also loves Daniel Craig. She thinks he's the perfect Bond for the 21st century.

Exactly! That's why I get annoyed with people who want to destroy Die Another Day. It's big, loud and silly. And a great laugh. I'd take DAD over self-important, overrated tosh like GoldenEye anyday!

The way I analyse a Bond film (and I'm sure people will shoot me down for this) is to imagine travelling back in time to when I was a ten-year-old and show it to the younger me and my friends. As a child of the 80s, I and my friends would have loved DAD, TND, LTK and CR. We'd probably have been bored by GE and TWINE, which are very average been there, seen that movies.

LTK ups the ante on Bond films, making Bond tougher and more badass. TND has some great action scenes and, IMO, David Arnold's best score along with some good jokes (it suffers on repeat viewings, which is something kids in the 80 had less chance to do!) DAD is a great overblown comedy action film (let's be honest, after the opening, for the most part, DAD is a comedy thriller!) and Casino Royale shows a super-efficient, but very human portrayal of a flawed, somewhat rebellious rookie Bond on his first mission.

Critics are all too quick to knock films that aren't 'high art,' yet they're only too happy to indulge in the 'inconsequential, superficial, time-wasting pleasure' of an inconsequential, superficial drink in the bar afterwards!

My father was born in 1904 and my mother in 1918. I don't think my dad ever watched a movie. My Mom thought they were too racy, but she got to where she liked Roger Moore. I would take her to our local drive-in. She did not want me to see Dr No when it came out because of the pictures of Ms Andress. Mom loved historical fiction books and movies, Gone with the Wind was her favorite. If Clark Gable had been Bond, Mom would have been the biggest fan.

My dad was a Methodist minister, so every time Bond was featured on the ABC Sunday Night Movie, he and mom would sit me down to the same lecture: "Now, we're going to let you watch this film, but you need to understand we don't approve of James Bond's lifestyle..."

By "James Bond's lifestyle," I'm virtually certain they meant engaging in casual sex with virtual strangers; shooting people with harpoon guns or force-feeding them exploding shark pellets was okay. Or maybe they were opposed to staying in overpriced hotels and ordering rich food, I don't know.

I still remember Dad surprising my brother and me by tagging along to see FYEO when I was 16. I remember because I wanted to crawl under the seat when the teenaged Bibi showed up naked in 55-year-old Roger's bed announcing she was no virgin.

Two years later I took both my parents to my fourth viewing of Octopussy and Mom thought it was fantastic. Then as now, I was torn between my happiness at finally being able to share my love of Bond with my folks and the vague unease at realizing James Bond had turned into something that would appeal to my mother, who thought "Hart to Hart" was the greatest TV show ever. :(

Looking back, I have to say my folks were very open-minded about letting me see the films and read the books, considering how strict I thought they were at the time. I'm not sure Bond ever really won over my dad, who's more of a Western fan, but I know my mom liked Roger Moore, who was almost as cool as Robert Wagner.

Dad made sure I was exposed to all the best stuff: Clash of the Titans, Star Wars, Superman, Raiders… and I have choppy memories of him putting me in front of the tv to watch DN, YOLT and SWLM, but sadly he never got me out to see a Bond in the theaters.

I think they both prefer Connery and have only a passing interest in the others. In fact, aside from Connery, my Dad still can’t keep the actors straight.

Dad: “Hmmm… Roger Moore… which one was he? The athletic, more gentlemanly Bond?”

Judo: :(

By the time I could make sense of the films, Moore was already deep into the role (though I still can’t make sense of Octopussy) and I suspect that is why they didn’t take me. Sadly AVTAK was my first theater experience, and that was with a friend. My second theater experience was TWINE. And my third, DAD. Which is why I saw CR three times in the theaters. To balance the scales, so to speak.

Ah, Goodnight, you're making me feel old.  Mrs. Tallon and I just had our 35th anniversary.

My parents, and particularly my mother, were vehement anti-smokers, and when they found out that this Bond character that I so enjoyed smoked 60-70 cigarettes a day, they were certain that I was on the road to utter ruin.  Now, I never smoked, but my mother was really worried about it for a while.
