From what we know oil has nothing to do with the plot unlike GOLDFINGER where Goldfinger's was obsessed with gold and it was a vital plot point so covering the girl made sense (in a twisted way!). It's like they thought: "Ooh a Goldfinger reference would be cool!" "Yah! Covering the girl in gold's been done, though" Well, let's cover her in something else ...silver...water...mud...oil...moss? "Oil, I like that!" "Who doesn't like oil?" "Exactly and oil will look cool!" "Oil, it is"

Not saying that is definitely how it went down but I would have expected something a little subtler from this team like the TSWLM reference.

Thank you for the pictures, everyone. The ones from the DK book especially Bond and Camille in the desert are breathtaking.

True, but granted, "Goldfinger" was forty years ago. And while the paint scene in "Goldfinger" was shocking because of its bizarre elegance, this might elicit a different reaction because it looks pretty grotesque & horrifying.

That German magazine spread looks great!

"Der Harteste Bond Aller Zeiten" etc etc - LOLZ - so many over-the-top headings, I love it, they really know how to pump a movie!

Printed out a couple of those pages, they look great on my fridge.

I wonder if the originals of those images are floating around and will pop up.

Yeah. It is pushing it.

It seemingly crosses the line of homage and moves straight into theft. It's something that could be handled so much more subtly and still have the same homage... it's almost like they're beating it into our heads: "It's GOLDFINGER, get it?!"
