It's great- it is a fairly small space, though, so you won't see all of the cars in his collection. He only had two Batmobiles out and no sign of The Saint car when I went last year. Very impressive display. Kids of the 80s might get the most out of it, what with Knight Rider, A Team and Hazzard cars there.
It was funny (And surprising) to see Streethawk propped up in a corner out of the way!

There used to be a museum in S. California (near the now defunct Movieland Wax Museum) called "Cars of the Stars". I remember going there several times as a kid in the late '70's and seeing the following cars:

1. The Batmobile from the 1960's TV show.
2. Herbie the Love Bug
3. The Monkees car
4. The Muster's coach
5. The Seaview model from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea
6. The King Kong model from the 1930's movie of the same name.

There were a number of other cars there, but as a kid, these were the one's that stood out in my mind.

That Cars of the Stars has since closed its doors. I wonder if this other museum purchased any of their vehicles from this older museum? Hmmm? Just curious.

Anyway, hope you have fun. Post some of your pics for us to see.

Could be- it's amazing as to the lengths he goes to get this stuff; I think he's got the Knight Rider car which was given to Hasselhoff. He's got the original Mad Max car (which is fantastic), two Fast & Furious cars, the Munsters' coach, A Team van, every Bond car you can think (Vanquish, V8 Vantage, both Lotuses, a DB5 etc.), three Batmobiles (Keaton's, Kilmer's and a 60's one- not sure if the 60's one is original, but it looks spot on), a Starsky & Hutch Torino from the movie, an original General Lee.... it must be the best collection in the world. And to see it in a little garage in the middle of a small town in the beautiful Lake District is quite bizarre! :(

As some of you may know, I went to the 'Cars of the Stars' today and I got talking to the manager. Now, he told me that there is a MASSIVE James Bond exhibition coming early next year in Keswick, Cumbria.

The museum itself is based in a larger place in Keswick, and will vary from James Bond vehicles to James Bond props. The BBC was filming the Aston Martin Vanquish, following the announcment a few days ago. I got to sit in the car! After persuading the manager, he made my day. :(

He said that the Museum is open to public next April. :)

Yes it's good that- popped up in quicknews the other day:
http://commanderbond...n...&item=48526

I thought you'd started your other Cars of the Stars thread because of it, to be honest! :(

It's a good idea as it's a great shame that his Bond collection is languishing out of view most of the time, although he will need to put a bit effort into bringing them up to scratch; a couple of them are in a state of quite bad repair; I took some pictures of them when they were on display at Goodwood last month which you can see in this thread:
http://debrief.comma...p...c=47981&hl=

Very laudable of him to try the educational aspect too.

He's got 25 Bond cars? I wonder what he has. As long as he gives them a bit of attention too this sounds like a great project. Shame it's all the way up there in Keswick though! :(

A little out of date, but check:

http://www.carsofthe...om/cotspg4.html

one vehicle (at least) missing from the list is the Triumph Stag from Diamonds Are Forever, which he bought quite some time ago, sold it few years ago and recently bought it back again.

Fantastic. I'm doing some charity fundraising in the Lake District in June, so hopefully will be able to pop into this afterwards.

Wow... big mistake in the article. "Francisco Scaramanga's weapon of choice from 'The Spy Who Loved Me'"... really?

I don't know who made that mistake, but I'm very curious as to HOW they messed that up! ;-)

Apparently only in certain areas of Keswick ONE Bond film came out between 1974 and 1977, which was called The Spy Who Loved His Golden Gun.. B)
