Excellent fun DJs Adam & Joe on BBC 6music have a feature on their show called Song Wars where they set each other a challenge each week to write a song based on a particular theme.
This week the challenge was to write a theme song for Quantum of Solace, and their attempts are really rather good.
Have a listen and a chuckle here and feel free to vote for your favourite:

Hilarious, I love Adam and Joe. The winner for me there has to be Adam, if only for his rhyming of the word "quantum" with "want 'em"

And respect to both songs for actually including the title of the film!

Ooh, I think I preferred Joe's one.

Me too. The lyrics for Joe's had me rolling with laughter.

Oh, hilarious! Thanks for sharing!

Hard choice, but I settled for Joe's. Absolutely love the lyrics, nearly choked on my coffee. Great fun. :(

Most likely spoiled the film's title for me, as I will always remember it as 'Something Of Boris' now... :)

Of course, Ain't it cool would be wetting themselves even more if they knew that Joe is working with their God, Edgar Wright, on a film based on Ant Man (yes, there is such a thing).

Sometimes I wish Roger Moore would come back
With an underwater car and some kind of jet pack
Or a hover-gondola and a Union Jack

I've got it mixed up.

BBC 6 Music DJs duel it out with mock James Bond theme songs

The Quantum of Solace
(The Quantum of Solace)
I've written it down
(I'll remember it now)

Wonderful stuff.

Good move putting it on the main page, Matt!

I thought that they're so good they deserve CBn's far-reaching audience, rather than the miniscule numbers who listen to the BBC. :(

Absolutely splendid. I'm starting to wish EON would have waited with their decision a few weeks longer.

Love Joe's song. Great lyrics!!

He's got a gun and great big man-tits
He's got jug ears and tiny shorts
Dame Judi Dench is FURIOUS with him
He's gone completely out to lunch

I am glad to hear Adam & Joe are still going.

For Joe's song - here is someone's version of the lyrics, which seems pretty spot-on to me. Please correct anything if you know better. And if you haven't heard the song, listen to it first before reading this:-

He's got a gun and great big man-tits
He's got jug ears and tiny trunks
Dame Judi Dench is furious with him
He's gone completely out to lunch

The Quantum of Solace
(The Quantum of Solace)
I don't know what that means
(What does it mean?)

He's having flashbacks in black and white
No more raised eyebrows, no more quips
He's got the stunt team from the Bourne films
And lots of product sponsorships

The Suantum of Quolace
(The Suantum of Quolace)
Did I get it confused?
(I've got it mixed up)

He's nearly dead, no really nearly
It's much more gritty than before
No silly gadgets, just lots more fighting
With that French bloke that does parkour

The Thingy of Whatsis
(The Something of Boris)
I forgot what it's called
(Is that what it was?)

Sometimes I wish Roger Moore would come back
With an underwater car or some kind of jetpack
Or a hover-gondola
And a Union Jack

Forget it mate, it's not the Eighties
He'd rather kick you in the face
We've got a new Bond for the Noughties
Because the world's a terrible place

The Quantum of Solace
(The Quantum of Solace)
I've written it down
(I'll remember it now)

:( :)

Of course one fun aspect of this is that Adam & Joe's producer said that her boyfriend's guitar was played by Jack White on the actual QoS theme! :(

Here's the video which is up on YouTube directly...

This is neat - according to The Independent, David Arnold called Joe personally to compliment him on his mock Quantum of Solace theme!
