It appears this 1972 Italian horror film is coming out on Region 2 DVD soon.

As far as I know, this will be the first film with Lazenby in a leading role other than OHMSS to be released on Region 2 DVD.

I'd never heard of it before looking through Laz's filmography once (and I soon forgot about it) and it's probably no great shakes but I'm keen to see Lazenby in another leading role.

I can honestly say that I have never heard of this movie before. But I am quite intregued by the thought of another movie with Lazenby in the lead role. I might very well check this out. Thanks for the heads up Safari Suit.

I've read a bit about this one in the past, but I've never seen it. The Laz is said to be pretty good in it. As it says in the synopsis there, the film's supposed to be along similar lines to Don't Look Now.

It has a pretty respectable score on IMDb, 6.5 - Over half. I will have to check this one out.

I've had this on video for years, I think it's quite good although not outstanding. They made loads of movies like this in Italy in the 70s, called Giallos they were a whole sub-genre of mystery/suspense thrillers that emphasised the murder scenes. If you've seen any of Dario Argento's films you know what to expext, although Who Saw Her Die isn't really in the same league. Lazenby, though, is pretty good, but that's not really a surprise to us OHMSS fans, is it!?

There's no doubt that Lee would've gotten the best out of him choreography wise !

I must admit that I find this clip intriguing and rather interesting. If only this trailer were better edited (=shorter), it could be pretty good! I had a feeling of "thriller genre" rather than "horror" when I watched it.

I had heard that Lazenby and Bruce Lee were going to star together in something. I didn't know it was going to be GAME OF DEATH. I've got most of the footage for Lee's intended cut of the latter and I'm having trouble imagining Lazenby being in it. That could have been very good. Well, Lee would have been anyway.

Its a reasonably good film but the producers made a big mistake in dubbing Lazenby's voice with someone completetly different. George also had lost a lot of weight though whether this was for the role or not, I don't know.

In Germany the movie is known as "The Child - Die Stadt wird zum Alptraum". I think "The Child" was also the US-title.
When I look at the trailer it reminds me of the Maddie-case.

Looks like a cool flick. I think the young girl in that picture was Udo Kier's daughter in Andy Warhol's Frankenstein.

How similar is this to Don't Look Now? I know this came out before that film but after the Daphne du Maurier story, are the similarities a coincidence?

The reason Lazenby is dubbed by an American actor is because they wouldn't pay him. This is according to Lazenby himself. This is why in so many Italian films, more often than not are the English-speaking performers dubbed by someone else in English. The damn dubbing unions won't let them dub themselves way too often.

I really don't know - it's been a long time since I've seen it. At the time, I believe she was married to Count Gregorini so she may have sponged up enough Italian by then. A lot of those films were made for the international market so everyone spoke their own language or said their phone number over and over and were all dubbed in in post-production.

 

Apropos of almost nothing, I watched "The Spy Who Loved Me" in French not long ago. All the roles were dubbed with voices that were vastly different from those of the onscreen actors except for Curt Jurgens - HE sounded exactly the same. I found out afterwards that he was fluent in a slew of languages and did all his own dubbing. Worldly guy. "Bondian", one might say.

I saw Octopussy on a French television station some time ago. All the voices were vastly different too... except for Louis Jourdan. He did his own dubbing. No surprise there!

And how about Gert Forbe and Carole Bouquet? Both were dubbed in English because the filmmakers hated their thick german and thick French accents respectively. But if you watch them in German and French respectively, you can hear the real voices of Forbe and Bouquet coming out of their respective mouths.

But let's get back to Who Saw Her Die?. Why would the Dubbing Unions not pay Lazenby for dubbing himself in English? Either Lazenby refused to dub, or the dubbing unions wouldn't let him (meaning it wasn't part of his contract).

 

Can you imagine if the dubbing unions didn't let Clint Eastwood dub himself in English for "The Man With No Name" trilogy? Thank god they did, though.
