Another favourite Lago moment is when, Bond is at the mansion trying to find Paula and then when the alarm goes off, Bond starts shooting at both sides and naturally when both sides are shooting, Largo's reaction is comical in that he expresses his frustration by yelling, "he's got you all shooting at each other"! Lol. What a great villain.

Largo is definitely one of the key ingredients that make Thunderball one of the best movies in the franchise.

The forced/fake chivalry between Bond and Largo is so amusing also.

Happens to appear in the most consistently entertaining Bond/Villain scene in the series, the clay pigeon shooting.

The forced/fake chivalry between Bond and Largo is so amusing also.

I agree with both statements. The rivalry I love. Bond trying to get under Largo's skin its a joy. Their first encounter at the poker game is one of the best in the entire series. Largo's lines (and body language) in that scene are truly brilliant.

My favorite Largo line was Celi's delivery of "You wish to put the evil eye on me, eh? We have a way to deal with that where I come from"

One of the better villains in the series. Problem is all of Connery's "first five" had outstanding villains.

A very strong villian, and utterly evil. I adore the villians of the Connery era. So outlandish.

I also liked the scene where they are practicing shooting. When Connery says, "seems terribly difficult", then shoots the target dead on and says, "no it isn't, is it?" Classic interacting between both.

Agreed. Largo is a great villain. Charming, ruthless and lives a life of luxury. Plus the eye patch adds to his menacing demeanour quite a bit.

I love Adolfo Celi's Emilio Largo as well. In fact, he's number four on my villains list behind only Sanchez, Khan, and Goldfinger. He's a leader who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty or do away with a failing or greedy henchman. He's got style and class and a mean looking eye-patch. He can take care of himself and he's a nasty, brutal son of a gun. What's not to like? :(

Indeed. I completely agree. It is tru that he's usually over-shadowed by Goldfinger and Blofeld in terms of popularity.

I think that's due to Thunderball (one of my faves in the entire series) itself, as a whole, also shadowing the villain. I always thought that TB helped to define the Bond formula even more than GF (following the train of thought that theft and parody can most of the time be signs of popularity - the "holding the world for ransom" ploy has been used and/or parodied countless times, and it was this movie that made it popular).

Nah, he's not one of the best in my opinion. But I love the casino scene, where Bond and Largo first meet each other. That scene is brilliant! I also like his look with the eye-patch. But he isn't a meborable villian in my opinion.

After my first two viewings of the movie, I didn't really like the whole movie and thought Largo was just a boring villian. Now I think it's a decent one. I also don't think he's very good dubbed. Bt Some of my favourite moments of Thunderball are with Largo.

So, a decent villian.
