Oddly, the Woodentops and Bill and Ben were my pre-school programs, and you are much older than me, so either you were watching these as a teenager, or listening to them on the radio pre-tv technology. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think I am.
According to IMDB the Woodentops (I only bothered to check them) were produced from 1955 to 1958, so I was probably watching them first time around, I know, I'm ancient.
