After The Beautician and the Beast flopped at the box office in 1997, Timothy Dalton was determined to make a hit out of the source material so 11 years later, Dalton pitched the idea for Brokeback Mountain II: Beauty and the Beast to Ang Lee. Bond is fundamentally an assassin, but at the same time he is a hero I will take Bond back to his roots. I will show the hard ruthless side- but also the moment of vulnerability when he falls for a woman. One approaches Bond with the same intensity as one tackles Macbeth or Heathcliff. I will make Bond flawed and human."
