References to all of Fleming's Bond books?

I know all these references were a bit much for some people - I liked a lot of them, but it's not something Fleming really did so it stands out a bit more. But I wouldn't be surprised if he did put in a nod to all of Fleming's books.

Also, there was a homage to RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK that I found in one chapter. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not but there was a scene that seemed to be lifted directly out of that film. Has anyone else caught it?

If so, and if this means Faulks also references Higson, and Young Bond, then how self-referential this is all getting!!!
I'm yet to finish DMC, but I'll be on the lookout for any other Higson references.

However, there was a Dr Julius No, which is similar to the chap in DMC. (Still not read it, should this be discounted for any other obvious reasons)

Isn't 'The Paradise Club' (chapter 8) also a reference to Young Bond, specifically to Double or Die? "For Bond, the name stirred the faint memory of an exciting juvenile visit to the gaming tables". (P. 104). That would be the gaming tables of the Paradice (sic) Club, chapters 10 and 11 of Double or Die.
If so, and if this means Faulks also references Higson, and Young Bond, then how self-referential this is all getting!!!

That's how I'd read it.
At least means Faulks - or his proof-reader - has read a Higson book.

Not a sic. There's a casino near me called "Paradice".
I think it's all just coincidence.

I don't know what you mean by this - what does Casino Royale the movie have to do with The Paradise/Paradice Club? I can't remember any such reference...? Besides which, I think the reference in DMC to "a juvenile visit to the gaming tables" is a pretty clear Young Bond reference.

Well it still is a "a sic", as you put it, because I was noting that the club in Double or Die is called "Paradice", not "Paradise" - by putting 'sic' I wasn't suggesting that it was a spelling mistake in Double or Die (I do understand the ParaDICE pun - hoho, haha), just that that is the way the text appeared in the original.

I agree. A nice touch by Faulks.

Well, there is not just a 'Paradice Club' but also Gorner's remark to Bond about 'English "fair play"' and this being "not cricket". (Chapter 5; page 68)
In 'Double Or Die' Charnage's remark, when drowning Bond in gin, reads:
'What's the matter?' said Charnage. 'Does this offend your sense of fair play? Are you upset that it's not quite cricket?' (Chapter 17; page 236)
Really far too much of a coincidence IMO, and I'm quite sure it's meant as an in-joke.

Thinking about this thread, I asked Charlie about this in our new interview:
JC. In the new adult James Bond novel, Devil May Care, Sebastian Faulks says Bond visited a casino in his youth called the Paradice...
CH. Yes, I know. I was very touched by that. I didn’t know he was going to do that. I was reading the book and I said, “Oh, that was nice of him.”
JC. So there’s no way that’s a coincidence? There’s no way that’s not a specific a reference to Double or Die?
CH. No, no. He put that in as a sort of nod to the Young Bond books, which was very nice of him, I thought.
