I see Craig as Bond, myself.

I some times get flashes of different Bond actors, depending on certain lines and scenes, but mainly it's the same undefined Bond my imagination conjurs up whenever I read the books. A lot of times I see the face of that first Bond sketch as commissioned by Ian Fleming (see my sidebar).

What kept popping into my mind was the actor Jon Hamm, or rather his character Don Draper from the TV show Mad Men. The voice isn't right, but the clothes, the way he moves or just smokes a cigarette evoke for me the way a 60's Bond should look.

I haven't pictured any of the actors as Bond in my reading of the novel thus far. The Bond that I have imagined through my reading thus far has just been a generic Bond rather than resembling any one Bond actor in particular.

Same here. I'm seeing Hedison as Leiter too, as I usually do.

I pictured Craig as Bond and Giannini as Mathis, but Jeffrey Wright didn't make the cut (probably because Felix's blond/Texan/hook hand attributes keep being mentioned!)

The novel would have been better sold as "Sebastian Faulks writing as Raymond Benson"

Nothing could be as bad as Benson.

The Gardner abominations were. Much, much worse.

I always picture the guy on the Bantam Colonel Sun paperback. That was my first Bond book.

I tend not to imagine Bond at all, actually, when I read the books. I see dark hair but no face. As to Mathis, I did imagine GG - even though I can't stand him in CR!

I didn't know this cover, but the Bond on it looks fine. He looks a bit like Cary Grant.

Really? I kept seeing Pedro Armendariz.

I also saw Joseph Wiseman as Dr. Julius Gorner (no surprise there ), that Burmese general guy from Rambo as Chagrin, and Jack Lord (with a heavy Southern twang, of course) as Felix Leiter.

I think I might have seen one of the Busey brothers as J.D. Silver.

While reading the JOHN GARDNER and RAYMOND BENSON books, I always have seen the Pierce Brosnan BOND, but in the Fleming novels and colonel sun, I have always had the vison of the bond from the daily mail comic strips in my head, and this occured again with DEVIL MAY CARE........

When I first read DMC I suddenly thought that Sean Connery could be this Bond, it's the perfect Connery-Bond-setting.

Honestly I can see Dalton or maybe even Craig. Probably because SF is writing as Fleming and Those two actors are the most true to Fleming

As I read this the only image of Bond I get in my head is Sean Connery. Bernard Lee for M, kinda Eva Greene for Scarlett, not sure about the name but the guy who played Felix in Thunderball, and Mathis, I picture a young well groomed sharply dressed frenchman
