Who do you think puts on the best and worst accents in a Bond film?

I personally think that Izabella Scorupco nails the Russian accent in Goldeneye. It's damn near perfect!

The worst is probably Vincent Schiavelli's German accent for Dr. Kaufman. True, it's not bad for a German accent but it sounds a little too Michael Barrymore's Hitler for me!!!

Robbie Coltrane's Valentin Zukovsky went from an almost convincing Russian accent in GoldenEye to a weird Scots/Russian hybrid in TWINE. There are certain scenes in TWINE where it's like he's not even trying to maintain the accent.

Worst accents
Barbara Bach as Anya Amasova- awful Russian accent.
Daniela Bianchi as Tatiana Romanova- ditto
Julian Glover as Kristatos- what accent is that? Greek? Dunno.
Brit Ekland as Mary Goodnight- is she trying to imitate a British accent?
Sean Connery- Goldfinger onwards.
Talisa Soto as Lupe Lamora- weird accent. Where is supposed to be from?

Best accents
Roger Moore- typical British gentleman, eh?
Joe Don Baker as Brad Whitaker

Have to agree with Conery's increased Scottish brogue in GF and onward, must've had it under control more before.

Wasn't Daniela Bianchi dubbed anyway?

I agree that Barbara Bach is possibly the worst, although I find Eva Green's accent a little odd too. I also think that Nicole, in NSNA could have come straight from "Allo Allo"...

Best: Dan Craig, perfection--at least to Yankee Mick's ears. Best accent since Lazenby!

Worst: Largo. What planet was his dubber from?

Eva Green's accent is very diluted French with a slight cockney twist, and it's her natural speaking voice nowadays for all intents and purposes. And I for one find it sexy as hell.

As for bad accents... can't really think of any that haven't been mentioned, although I'm unaware that Joe Don Baker did an accent for Whitaker.

Here's a question I've always wondered about: Did Countess Lisl's accent in FYEO really sound like a Manchester or Liverpool accent?

Good question Major T! Yes it did. Grew up in the Manchester area and old Lisl's accent still reminds me of my old stomping grounds!!!

She was from Liverpool!

She corrects Bond when he suggests Manchester.

Correction: She says, "Close...Liverpool." Both accents are reasonably similar given the geography, and I can see why Bond guesses Manchester. She sounds more Ryan Giggs than Steven Gerrard! And yes, I know, Ryan Giggs is Welsh!!!

Yes, that's what I said. She corrects him by saying "Close...Liverpool".

And the worst accent is Ken Sharratt's jailer in TLD with his Scouse twang!!

In reality of course, the actress was Australian. Her name was Cassandra Harris and she has sadly since passed away. I think her husband took some sort of interest in the Bond movies though!!

Best: Steven Berkoff. Wise enough to disguise any attempt to bother with an accent behind colossal shouty ranting. Splendid.

Worst: Sean Bean. It sounds... off, I dunno; weirdly forced. Very distracting. Would have been much better Bean au naturel.

Its only a small part, but the badly accented traffic warden at the start of Thunderball always makes me laugh.

I thought ole Telly's was total perfection in OHMSS. Best accent of any actor in any Bond so far.
