Michelle Ryan: 'I blew my Bond audition'

Michelle Ryan has admitted that she "blew" her audition for Casino Royale.

The former EastEnders actress tried out for the role of Vesper Lynd in the 21st James Bond film but lost out to Eva Green.

Speaking to Metro, Ryan confessed that her 007 audition didn't go as smoothly as her Bionic Woman test.

Ryan said: "I did [audition]. Daniel Craig wasn't there, though. I was quite nervous and completely blew it. Whereas with Bionic Woman I was relaxed and nailed it. It's always when you're not bothered - the same as when it comes to guys - that you do best. If you try too hard it doesn't work."

Ryan recently revealed her passion for zoology.

Pretty Interesting, the thing is... I could actually see her as Vesper Lynd.

Meh... I'm glad they went with Eva Green. I haven't watched it, but I heard The Bionic Woman really went down the toilet, quality wise.

So if they'd said that her performance really sucked, we'd have known why....

Or if she said she 'bit it'.

I saw some previews of her Bionic Woman. If that's her good stuff, I can only think her testing for Bond was dire.

Yeah, but if she did blow in her CR audition, I'll bet Craig wishes he was there

I thank you.

She wasn't all bad in East Enders... but Vesper is a mile away from that kind of hysterical performance. She's dull and uninteresting in Bionic Woman - not a great advertisement for her skills. She has an interesting melancholic quality about her that could have worked for Vesper I guess...

You are giving The Bionic Woman too much credit. I think it was swirling the drain from the beginning.

Strikes me as a bit too young to have been Vesper in CR anyway...

What a mess that show is/was IMHO. I understand wanting to update a show, but why, oh WHY, do they have to be so radical with their updates?

I don't mean to be cruel but, aside from the weight, she looks like Mama Cass in that photo. With just a touch of Tiny Tim.

I read somewhere that the pilot was promising, but the show just completely fell apart after that.

Glad it was ultimately Eva Green for Vesper.

I think she would have made a good "Fields" in QoS.

The thing with Michelle Ryan is that she is still young enough to become a Bond girl in the future.
