We all know that Harry Saltzman used to make the Bond films with Cubby Broccoli but Harry sold his shares of the Bond films to United Artists during The Spy Who Loved Me i think. Well at the beginning of each Bond movie there was the United Artists logo but then after Tomorrow Never Dies there have been no United Artists logo just the 20th Century fox logo just like on the Die Another Day trailer so can anyone please tell me what has happened to United Artists? Did they sell their shares or something?
Thanks.

Here's the story. . .United Artists went bankrupt in the early 1980s as a result of the fiasco that was Heaven's Gate. The studio was acquired by MGM and became MGM/UA--hence Leo the Lion at the start of Octopussy, AVTAK, TLD, and LTK. For GoldenEye and TND, the studio decided to release the films under the old UA logo; and later (I believe I heard this from none other than Blue Eyes), the studio decided to release the more "artistic" films under the UA banner and the commercial ones under MGM, and that's why TWINE and now DAD are MGM films.

Yeah that's about the gist of it Hardyboy
The more 'art house' films come out under UA and the bigger films come out under MGM, which I suspect is an attempt by MGM to boost their share value.

Hey that's not fair! They had Windtalkers...erm. Or Roller - oh. Erm... hang on, I'll think of one... say, that Die Another Day looks good doesn't it?
I just read in Hotdog magazine that MGM is pretty much gone as a studio - it now exists solely to make Bond films. No complaints from me...
