If I were Warner Bros., I'd make a trade to get the rights to the Batman television series. It's a potential gold mine (and that's probably why Fox isn't negotiating)!
That's pretty much what I believe...

I figure most TV shows needs to be reformated in widescreen, as they are cropped on standart releases out of the 1.37 masters. TV shows like Columbo were all composed for widescreen, for possible theatrical releases in europe.

No-it's the insignia that appears on the door of the tv Batmobile. I think they are going for a very simple design, and it works. Is that cover a very funny (and quite subversive) joke or is it a increadibly misguided attempt to make this look like a "serious" Batman film?
It's not widescreen, nor is it tv specs. It probably has the specs for a regular movie at the time. This isn't a bunch of tv episodes cobbled together for the theater-this was made directly for theatrical release to capitalize on the popularity of the show, and help defray costs for a Batboat and Batcopter. Is this widescreen, or not ? Damn, they never give the screen format on those specs for BR.

But portrayed in a very "serious" fashion with "serious" fonts for the title and actor names. It definitely doesn't give the impression of a comedy.No-it's the insignia that appears on the door of the tv Batmobile. Is that cover a very funny (and quite subversive) joke or is it a increadibly misguided attempt to make this look like a "serious" Batman film?

I can see where you are coming from but I think anyone who sees the Batman name or logo & then Adam West's name attached to it will realize this is the campy 1960's version & not a serious version. But portrayed in a very "serious" fashion with "serious" fonts for the title and actor names. I would think so, but you never know. There are plenty of people out there who don't know who Adam West is.I can see where you are coming from but I think anyone who sees the Batman name or logo & then Adam West's name attached to it will realize this is the campy 1960's version & not a serious version. But portrayed in a very "serious" fashion with "serious" fonts for the title and actor names. I was just echoing Safari Suit's assertion that the title is a rather odd choice - it's either meant in jest or is trying to peddle the film as something other than comedy (which, as you rightly point out, is undercut by having Adam West's name attached).

The Batman series is one of the holy grail tv series that hasn't been released yet. They need to get the rights resolved while we actually have a few of the original people from the series still around who can be interviewed for the bonus material. Most of the villains have, sadly, already passed on, save for the three actresses who played Catwoman.

And Adam West is a jerk. I met him at a convention. :rolleyes
Burt Ward is probably a class act, though.

As a die-hard Batfan, I think it's decent silly fun. It certainly nailed a lot of things about the comics of its period.I'm a Batfan but Batman: The Movie sucks, unfortunately.
