Well to be fair to him, they do look dirty in places- on purpose I'm sure. That bar that Felix is in, for example. But that's intended of course. And the ruin they have the party at is pretty clearly a not-all-that-nice struture with some fairy lights hung up on it in the video, but I'm sure in the film it will look stunning.
Calling them "cheap" is a very odd statement though. This film is far from cheap.
Dirty, sure...so what? They are supposed to look that way and it takes a lot of money and effort to build sets that look the way you want. A real dive of a bar in South America would be cheap and dirty, the sets are specially built to mimick that so they have clearly done a good job.
The actual sets will not have been cheap, believe me [Mr Wint].

I like the shots of Bond, with black jacket pulled up high, on the phone in a dimly lit building. It gives me a gritty 1930's Double or Die vibe.

The party set looks great to me... unlike say, that tacky party in Tomorrow Never Dies.
I have a feeling this film could be cinematically more rich and atmospheric than CR.

And I also love the shot of Leiter at the bar. Very cool.

Seeing that video and hearing that salsa music, gave me visions of Craig dancing up a storm with some exotic beauty. And let's not forget most women love dancing.
As i recall there have been brief bits of Bond dancing in the films before but not so sure if he dances at all in the books. I'd certainly like to see more of Bond dancing.

Is it possible, even remotely possible, that our James will indulge in a spot of Latin dancing?

I quite like your thinking, actually.
And yeah, Mattofsteel, by the looks of it they must have more than enough stuff to put a teaser trailer together!

Excuse me. I have to go change my boxers.
Really, there's nothing to worry about with "twice the action" -- from everything I've seen, it's twice the well-done action.

The film is looking brilliant. No worries from me.
I like the shots of Bond, with black jacket pulled up high, on the phone in a dimly lit building. It gives me a gritty 1930's Double or Die vibe.
Those brief shots immediately made me think of the novel The Spy Who Loved Me for some reason. All it would need is Bond having a gritty and nasty close-quarters gun fight with some heavies in those corridors.
This film looks like it will really set the bar ridiculously high in terms of style and atmosphere for the Bond films to come. Loving the actually genuine and quality retro look to many of the scenes.

Who fell down the stairs? Bond or Greene? I can't tell.
I think somone said it was Elvis in another thread. But... I'm kinda hoping its Bond, we havent seen anything like that before.

Yes, love the look of the retro planes and a desert set retro dog fight. Very FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX....

It does look like Elvis, however, remember the set report lady said "and one of them will fall down the stairs" referring to Bond, Greene and Camille? At least, that's how I interpreted it.Who fell down the stairs? Bond or Greene? I can't tell.

I still think it should be Mathis.

Just saw a Hi-res version of the footage. One can clearly spot the haircut at the beginning of the falling, at 2:47 (and it looks like 'Fields' is climbing the stairs at the same time).

None of the sets look that way to me.Some sets looks a little bit cheap and dirty. I hope it will look totally different on screen.
Seconded Harms...in what way do they look cheap Wint?
yeah dont get that either. not cheap but do seem to capture more of the realistic side of S America. Nice contrast to the other more stylized "Adam-like" sets shown in the first newsreel.
but not cheap

It's Elvis (not Taubman himself but a stuntman).

Yep.
Should be kind of interesting to see Bond, the two villains and the two Bond girls all together in one scene.

It would be interesting if it were Bond. As you say, we haven't seen anything like that before (and it would certainly be interesting to see Bond in that kind of situation), but I don't think that it's him.
