I was wondering which of the Benson books you all feel is the most cinematic, as in, which would best be adapted as an EON film? I've read that "High Time To Kill" and "Never Dream of Dying" would make the best films if adapted.

What do you all think?

They are all very cinematic and my mind changes all the time as to which might make the best film. I think The Man With The Red Tattoo might make a terrific Bond film. I also think HTTK would adapt extremely well as a Craig Bond film.

My guilty pleasure has always been THE FACTS OF DEATH -- a very cinematic book.

It's been a while since reading Benson but remember picturing Zero minus ten as a film while reading it. High time to kill would be great too.

I think Never Dream of Dying would be great on film, though as its the third part of a trilogy, it probably isn't feasible. So I will say The Man with the Red Tattoo instead, full of weird and wonderful locations and characters.

Benson always said that TFOD was written specifically with an EON-style format in mind. It certainly is very cinematic, but more geared toward the Brosnan era (when it was written). I'm not so sure it would work as well as a Craig film, though HTTK, or maybe the whole Union Trilogy, probably would.

I agree - he captured the prevailing Eon "mood" of the time very successfully with that one.

I'm getting your opinions because I'm thinking about ordering some of them off Amazon. The general consensus seems to be "TFOD," "HTTK" and "NDOD." Thanks again!

Try to read the Union Trilogy in order if you can though (High Time To Kill - Doubleshot - Never Dream Of Dying).

all of them lol

Though honestly when they anounced a new orgnization that Le Chiffe would be apoart of. I imidiatly thought Union, and figured the films would go Casino Royale High time to kill Double shot and Never Dream of Dieing.

not that i'm uspet that Quantum of Solace is bond 22 (heck look at my name lol) but the uninon triolgy should be adapted.

Sadly I lent out Zero minus ten to someone never got it back...... so never lend out bond books to anyone lol.

I loved Bensons work. He was what turned me on to literary bond then when CR was coming out I figured this would be my last oppertunity to read a bond novel before it became a film though obviously not my last tiem to read something of fleming before it became a bond film . After reading Fleming I'm glad I did I have a no apreciation for 007.

Now if only I could find Gardner and Amis bond noves I'd be all set. I've read 2 Gardners Novelization of Licence to Kill and Licence Renewed.

Anyhoo I'm rambling. I do that from time to time.

To end my senseless rambling. the union triolgy.

eBay, eBay, eBay (or Abebooks and/or Half.com).

You can rather easily pick up the Gardners and Amis' Colonel Sun cheaply in paperback format.

All of them really. Benson had the ability to write very sharply and condense lots of action, which helps.

I think it would be a great idea to film the lot. Because other than being offerings to EON, they have little reason for existing. They certainly do not feature the literary Bond.

Though now Brosnan has gone, the Benson-Bond character would have to be rewritten totally, so there would be little point in touching them anyway.

I'll say The Facts Of Death because it sees Bond visit Leiter in Austin, Texas.
