Hello,

This is my second post on the Commanderbond forum. I want to congratulate you for keeping such a great work on keeping all of us up to date with Quantum of Solace. I expect another excellent film.

Well, if this is not considered spoiler, sorry. I was wondering if we will get to see Bond and M discuss about his resignation from MI6. Will it be, at least, mentioned at QoS, or it "was discussed", although not shown, time before James Bond captures Mr. White at the end of Casino Royale?. It will be interesting to see M and Bond talk about that, specially if we will see a "prickly" relationship between them.

Any thoughts will be appreciated as I usually have a good time reading most of your interesting threads.

Thank you.

Welcome

Good point - there is that unfinished business of Bond's resignation. I think it is sort of assumed that as he went after Mr White at the very end of the movie, and considering his conversation with M just before that, that he's withdrawn his resignation. But it isn't made entirely clear.

It's pretty clear he withdrew his resignation when she said "come back as soon as you can. We need you" and he replies "will do"(just watched it again tonight). I don't think there's any unresolved issue that needs to be addressed in QOS. Anyway, welcome to Cbn.

Welcome to CBn, Mr OO7.

I agree with Sku and Tarl. He withdrew his resignation, so it's all hunky-dory again.

Cheers,

Ian

I'm fairly certain that we're supposed to think that he withdrew his resignation when he says that he'll come back as soon as possible. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if there was a quick mention of it near the beginning of the film to tie up a possible loose end with that situation, though.

Maybe he still resigned? He was just going back to clean M's car in return for destroying the Aston.

Ok, that is a bit silly

He didn't resign, but I wonder if he went to see Mr White off his own back or on M's orders? Rogue Bond, anyone?

Bond has not resigned. He was thinking about it, but never did. I don't think the film makers will pay much attention to this in QoS.

I believe he did submit his resignation, he was typing it up on the laptop on the boat as they floated into Venice. When M calls about the money, she mentions that they'll talk about it later. So M had not accepted his resignation, and I'm guessing that he retracted it after Vesper's death.

I stand corrected. That's why I said 'he was thinking about it'. I forgot M's line...
