Before any of you people start jumping for joy, no, the producers havent decided to go with someone else at the last minute. However, Madonna's people have forced the song removed from the web. Which can mean one of two things, they are releasing it soon, or they are taking lessons from MGM :)

from Madonnapower.com
We want to refer you to the file with title Madonna - Die Another Day (rough version) at Kazaa or other file sharing networks, where it is generally available. We are sorry for this descision but we are sure you'll understand that it's not up to us to decide it.

Guess what it means:

The song WAS the real theme song!

Can't say I blame Madonna for wanting that removed. It was such poor, poor quality bootleg that I wouldn't want my name attached to it.

As far as taking a lesson from MGM, I'd say MGM needs to take a lesson from Madonna. She simply asked the offending material be removed and it was. She didn't shut down the entire site because of it. Apparently she knows the benefits of great fan sites.

Here here! Madonna and her advisors are wise to the benefits of good PR and the advantages of the web - MGM on the other hand think the web is some kind of conspiracy to make punters watch superhero movies released by Columbia

Good on Madonna's PR people, brilliantly handled situation, they nipped the poor quality copy in the bud before too many other people got their mitts on it, and it didn't require legal action, the shutting down of a site or muchos fan pissing off!

MGM, meets Madonna's PR people, they could teach you a thing or three....:)

MGM are probably sitting in their offices right now and thinking. "Man they screwed up big time, they could have shut down all those websites, oh well, they dont care about the fans as much as we do...mwahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!"

I dont know, I just imagine MGM exec's doing a Dr. Evil-esque laugh :)

We all know who is the head of MGM, but what we really are curious about...is there a Number Two?

I dont blam Madonna or MGM for having that file removed. I have cleaned the file up to the point where you can accuctly hear the lyrics. But the music part is shot out of hell. MGM and Madonna dont want a direct link from the web, many more people can download the song easier like that, rather than with a program like Kazzaza or WinMX.

I do wonder though, was nothing said about the 35 second sample that was leaked onto the internet?

Perfectly said Mr *!

One thing I'd like to say myself is, I'm not sure that it was necessary to remove the file. I can see what the cases both for and against. For keeping it online, well I think it would attract more interest in to the actual song. It's like a teaser trailer in a way.

There are rumors circulating on the internet that the high quality version of Die Another Day will be released to radio over in Italy this friday, the same goes for parts of the USA and it seems that Australia is getting it within the next 9 days. Radio stations are reportedly getting the promo cd's of the song as we speak! So, we should get a great quality version of the song very soon, or not. Personally I think it's quite early to release a song to radio yet, but hey, who knows!!! I'll keep you updated on the news!!!!

Have a great day!!!

Promotion wise I think it's a bit early too. Surely between now and November the song would reach its peak before Die Another Day makes it to the silver screen?

But, who can tell what MGM will want to do marketing-wise ...

Remember also that Madonna is by far and away the biggest 'act' ever to perform a title song (sorry Duran Duran it's true), she will have her view and any Madonna song is going to stay in the charts worldwide for much longer than say ... Garbage ...

ok ok madonna is one of the greatest artist in the world, but for me the most important thing is the song, i don't care a lot if madonna's song is not a hit. What i want is that the song fits perfectly the movie like SHirley Bassey did with Goldfinger. If madonna can do that i ll be very happy.

Madonna was wise in removing that poor quality dreck from the web,and very quickly I might add. I look forward to hearing the pristine official version when it's released to radio, probably early next month. I can wait a few more weeks.

I agree level007, of course the song needs to fit the film, but that's not of prime importance to MGM or Madonna at the moment - they both want the hit (MGM also needs it to be a hit), MGM for marketing, Madonna for the same reasons she always wants a hit ...

I was just thinking whether Madonna's legal advice was so different from MGM's, but then I remembered ... the lyrics are still on the net. MGM didn't like the script being posted of DAD. No one published the actors actually speaking the lines ... apart from MGM themselves in the latest jamesbond.com video newsreal ... does this mean thehy'll take themselves of the net in the interests of 'protecting' the fans?

Garbage's theme song for TWINE was on US radio by mid September. I remember being surprised that it was that early, and a little disappointed at what was a rather drab song.

Does he know on who's show, tanger? if he does, i'l give them a listen. Chances are if it's on one day on that person's show, it'll be on again if they chose the song.

Granted, but if they played it only the one time, it wouldn't gaurntee that the song would hit the net I don't think.

True but unprecedented.
Each UK Radio station come the time will claim first play but they'll all roll it out at 8AM on a friday!

That's what happened with Secret,YMLM,Music,BS and AP

Still I concede this guy might not be BS

BTW in the UK DAD wil be up against the 'comeback' singles for U2 and/or WEstlife and will only get to #2
