What's your favorite moment in Casino Royale when Bond does something reckless?
I think mine is either when he shoots up the embassy or when he doesn't use the Mr. Beech cover.

I'm starting to love more and more the scene in which he abruptly hangs up on M after realizing the password for the airport security door is ELIPSIS.
Not really that reckless, but I think a little creativity might be needed here since we're limited to only scenes from CR.

Then Leiter intervened and said some of my favorite lines. Do we look like we need the money? My favorite is when a determined, angry, fatalistic Bond grabs a dinner knife and rushes after Le Chiffre. "Get the girl out."

As brief as it was, that staircase scene was my favorite Leiter scene in the franchise. Jeffrey Wright's Leiter is cool as ice. Then Leiter intervened and said some of my favorite lines. Oh YEAH! Duh! That one gets "most Flemingesque" for me. Good call.My favorite is when a determined, angry, fatalistic Bond grabs a dinner knife and rushes after Le Chiffre. "Get the girl out."

But yes, all the scenes mentioned such as the Bond/Leiter stairwell moment, and the valet scene are roguish brilliance.

The Beech reservation. It reminded me of something Connery or Dalton would do. It was good to see those facets of the character return, no matter how brief. He is even told he is reckless, and to take the next elevator, because there isn't enough room for her and his ego. The look in his eyes when told this is excellent, just look at them! He looks cold as ice and amused at the same time.
I could also see Roger Moore doing this scene quite well.

Ditto, it comes as quite a shock when this happens as usually Bond is so cool and collected in the other films.
My favourite 'reckless move' is when Bond falls off the roof and crashes into the dumpster. He's only human after all

Does this make Craig's Bond the most reckless Bond? Reading these responses, I am struck by how Craig's Bond is a bit less controlled than the other Bond actors. Not out of control, just more, well, reckless.
No real insight in my statement of course. This is part of what they were seeking to communicate with the new Bond, however, in reviewing these responses, it IS interesting to take note of how they threw in bits and pieces of recklessness throughout the film.

Agreed! From ordering the drink through to the conversation with Felix, an absolutely brilliant scene.

Great scene. Loved it even when I didn't know the context when it appeared in the trailer. I also love the "Beech" scene too.

That's definitely my best moment as well! And it feels like it comes straight out of the book's pages as well.

I think the point was that as a rookie, of sorts, he makes more mistakes. We are meant to wonder about those mistakes and disagree with his decisions. So, yes there is a clear distinction between Craig's Bond and the other Bonds.
