Confirmation that Greene isn't Vesper's ex-lover then, seeing as his nationality is not set in the movie.

Craig did at some point confirm that there is a connection, but did not clarify what the connection is. It could be that it's simply about the Organisation (responsible for Vesper's death) and that the boyfriend simply doesn't feature at all or is only mentioned (perhaps he is dead...).

Hopefully the case will be that the boyfriend will not appear in the film at all. I think that it's become so expected within the fan community that the boyfriend would be the villain of the film that it doesn't really seem like it would be a very good or original idea anymore. I'd like to think that he is also a victim of tragic circumstance, and that he holds little importance to the story other than his situation was the springboard for what happened with Vesper and Bond in Casino Royale, and that the character won't have much, if any, further impact on the storyline.
