Just been watching some Quantum of Solace news reports on Youtube. And I've come across something rather interesting. On the video for ITV News, the reporter who's named Nina Nannar was giving us a tour of the set.....

"I can tell you though that this *Points to set* is the exterior of the grand hotel and were told it's somewhere in South America, possibly Bolivia and you can expect quite alot of action to happen up there on the balconys"

Now.... What is Nannar implying here? are we to expect a balcony fight in Quantum of Solace? If we are then it will be really interesting to see. A tough violent struggle between Bond and a Villain, it would be pretty cool for Bond to throw the villain over the balcony only for him to grab hold of something and beg Bond for his life. This would put Bond is a moral dillema and reinforce the fact that Bond has very little compassion left for anyone.

Thoughts?

I could see that being a very good opportunity to show just how cold-blooded Bond can be. If handled right, I think that such a fight scene could work very well.

What is Nannar implying here?

I suspect that's about all she is doing...implying. Supposition.

Interesting... But it all depends on what kind of "action" will occur on this balcony...

Exactly. Mostly everything she can do at this point is speculate, nothing else. She saw the raw footage with Craig swinging on the rope, she saw the set, and the result is "...and you can expect quite alot of action to happen up there on the balconys." 1+1=???

It's not like the distinguished members of the world press were told the all and all about QoS on Thursday's event. They don't know that much more than we do - and I take most of the educated guesses at a Bond fan site over the speculative babbling of a TV reporter anytime.

If that's where Bond fights Greene in the climax, we could see a really cold-blooded Bond throw Greene off the balcony - depending how high it's supposed to be.

The balcony shown in the ITV News report is of the honeymoon suite of The Grand Hotel in Bolivia. I think the implication is of the romantic scenes which will take place there.

But then there is quite a bit of exterior set there- it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that they've built it for action. And when the BBC reporter was standing next to it it seemed that it wasn't full-height i.e. the first floor or so seemed to be cut off at ground level- this would make whichever level they are shooting appear higher. And those awnings do look as though you could bounce from one to the other...

Admittedly I'm guessing, but I can't imagine they'd build such a large (and expensive?) set if it were going to be used only for background. They could certainly find an actual exterior to use just for that. The mere fact that they constructed the set on the scale they used argues that they plan on using it for something big, and I think the reporter was on solid grounds in surmising that those large galleries are going to be the spot where it all happens.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is where a certain character comes to a sticky end.

Indeed. Wonder how many scenes like this we'll be seeing in Quantum of Solace.

Well the bedroom that supposedly leads off from the balcony had a large stain on the carpet, just at the foot of the bed, that said "pool of blood was here" to me.

That bedroom is so evocative of 1960's James Bond.

Well, I did say you could be right, Shrublands. I have actually seen that report before, but I forgot all about it.

I suppose we'll have to wait and see whether these stains are connected with the young lady copping it. A pool of blood that large does seem a bit gruesome for a Bond film, though!

Didn't Gemma say her character has a sticky end?

Yes, she did. Perhaps we should put two and two together to conclude that this stickiness is related...
