What would you have in the new trailer? (spoilers)

Personally, I'd have it start like this;
* Fox logo
* MGM logo
* Fade to black and then to:
* A green forest, almost perfectly silent except for the odd bird. Then:
* Boom, the forest gets destroyed in this supposedly awesome SFX we've been told about.
* A very quick glimpse of the gunbarrel.
I think starting it like that would have people wondering what trailer they were actually watching. They wouldn't starting off thinking it was a Bond film and I'm pretty certain it would draw them even further in to the film.

Anyhow I like the idea of the new trailer talking about "40 years ago..." and playing that clip from Dr. No...

All I really ask from the trailer is that it not be explicit as far as the plot twists. The trailer for TWINE was very good about protecting Elektra's duplicity and true nature. I just want the trailer for DAD to walk the fine line between being exciting and being enticing, and not too revealing. I don't want a trailer that gives away the major twists (to cite a non-Bond example: WHAT LIES BENEATH).
I guess we'll find out soon....

1. Fox logo...
2. ...which merges into MGM logo (i.e. the face changing thingy we've heard so little about)
3. Darkness, and then a sole flickering lightbulb illumnates a man shackled to a table. Bearded, broken, bruised, Brosnan.
4. Ooh, ooh, that I like...so, here come the Voiceover Man...
5. "Broken. Bruised. Burned. Betrayed..."
6. Quick zoom in as Brosnan raises his head, he no looky happy, and zoom close into his eye and the gunbarrel plays across it...
7 Voiceover man: "...Bond"
8. Let's have a black screen while I'm thinking of what comes next. Meanwhile, voiceover man continues.
9. "When what you thought you'd seen..."
10 Cue for some subliminal images of let's say: ski jump, golden girl, DB5, Q-boat...
11. "And who you thought you were..."
12. Subliminal images of the four predecessors, but not too many...
13. "And those you thought you loved..."
14. Subliminal images of let's say Tracy Bond and XXX and Pussy Galore and (because we must keep this up to date, and some folks have only seen the last three films) Elektra King, and bung some others in there...
15. "And those you thought you trusted..."
16. Images of M, Moneypenny, old M maybe...but maybe not Q, unfortunately
17. "Are taken away from you, who do you trust now...?"
18. Let's go back to Brosnan in the chair, and let's have him morph (sense a theme here?) from scruffy to the usual dinner jacket self and deliver the line "Bond. Only Bond", and then he raises his gun, fires towards the camera and out of the barrel of his gun zoom...
19 ...clips of this film, as voiceover man goes bonkers with...
20. "To save the world..." (suitable world saving action)
21. "To save the girl..." (suitable wrapping lips and limbs round various women)
22. "To save himself..." (suitable bits of...let's say the car chase...)
23. On [date], James Bond must..."
24. "Die Another Day"
25. "Pierce Brosnan is (as?) Ian Fleming's James Bond 007..." (or Albert R Broccoli's Eon Productions' Ian Fleming's James Bond 007, if that's not too exhausting)
26...and now we go back to smart Bond morphing back into the captive, bowing head, as camera pulls away and the cell door slams in our face...
27. "Die Another Day"
28....and on screen - James Bond: Released and Unleashed [date; say 22.11.02 e.g.]
I'd watch it, despite the fact it took me five minutes to think up.

1. The Fox logo, MGM logo. The lion is removed from it's circle, then the circle is now the gunbarrel.
2. The gunbarrel appears, but instead of Bond walking across in his tux, it's Bond in shackles in his prisoner garbs with the Korean prison, or him walking acrross the bridge. Beaten, bruised, betrayed, whatever he is at this point.
3. "When the people you trust have betrayed you...."
4. Scene in underground when Bond says:"You burned me. Now you want my help."
4. Cut to blackness. "Did you expect an apology?"
5. "And everyhting you're used to is lost..." Play Bond sipping a martini from past Bond films, and the folder that says "For Your Eyes Only"
6. "What do you do?"
7. Cut to prisoner Bond in interrogation room. He looks up, and the camera zooms into his iris. We can now see the following:
8. Bond's attempted escape from Korea, the briefcase exploding, the skydiving sequence, Jinx, Graves, Frost, Falco and finally Zao turning his pasty, diamond encrusted head to the camera, and then the Aston Martin driving slowly into the flames of the Ice Palace.
9. Cut to black. "40 years...amd it comes down to this." Show various clips from past films quickly, then show the title "Die Another Day" on the screen against blackness. It morphs into the release date, then the 007 logo. End.

BTW- I noticed a lot of you are playing up the captured Bond so much, wouldnt that be best kept a secret (from the general audience that is)? Seeing as how its a pretty big twist.

Hmm as long as they make reference to it being the 40th anniversary and 20th film then I'll be glad. I don't want them just promoting Die Another Day as if it meant nothing more than just "here's another Bond film!"

I think these ideas are great, but they don't define the story enough! The number one complaint that people have about trailers is that sometimes trailers don't have enough story. TWINE had a good amount of story to it. Define driving force of the film, define the characters. That's what's needed. Only showing Bond captured and then a bunch of clips and calling that a trailer isn't good.
We need dialogue! Dialogue by Graves. Dialogue by Frost. Dialogue by Jinx. Dialogue by M. That's all needed. Unfortuately, we don't know a heck of a lot of dialogue. But it should be in there!

I think for sure we'll get;
* something nail bitey from M. We usually do, and I think it will be the 'Did you expect an apology?' as it's already hit the media.
* definetely some dialogue and some action with Halle Berry. Unavoidably I think she'll feature in at least 1/3 or the trailer.
* Rick Yune will have a portion as will Will Yun Lee and Rosamund Pike.
* And of course they'll be Bond. But with Halle Berry, I fear there'll be less Bond.

For starters it helps give the trailer a plot idea without going too much into detail about Colonel Moon and Gustav Graves. Mind you, the audience may think, woah Licence to Kill all over again.
And considering it's in the pre-title sequence, it's hardly going to spoil a major twist in teh film.

MGM logo (as I'm in the US, we only get this logo)
fade to black
(Voice over) For forty years he has captivated audiences....
As the line audiences is said, scenes from various Bond films fly slowly at the screen.
(Voice over) ...he is the original action hero, his name....
Cut to scene from Dr. No Connery: Bond...James Bond
Show various clips of all 19 Bond films, James Bond theme blaring in the background.
(Voice over) This holiday season, James Bond is back!
Bond theme cuts out, cut to Madonna's DAD theme along with a montage of film clips from DAD.
(voice over) For forty years James Bond has survived certain death, but could this adventure be his last?
music cuts out, cut to scene of bearded Bond sitting in a solitary cell, the look of all lost hope on his face. Fade out
(voice over) a bit somber now, Pierce Brosnan is James Bond in Die Another Day, November 22nd.
-------------------------------------
I'm sure that trailer would definately pique peoples interests. We have the mention of the 40th anniversary, the clips of all the old films, Madonna's theme song, which, like it or not, will become popular. Plus we end the trailer with Bond captured. That will have many people going nuts.

I can't do better than that, but if MGM was paying me, this is what they would get:
MGM Lion roar fades into FOx logo as a voice over starts
"Each of these men have faced great obstacles..." (cue up shots of the five doing some hair raising stuff)
"Each of these men have suffered great losses..." (cue up Connery standing over Jill, Moore saying goodbye to Lisel, Dalton with Dalla, Brosnan with Elektra and then Lazenby with Tracy)
"Each of these men have overcome whatever was thrown at them..." (cue up the first four escaping from something being blown up or torn apart)
"...Until now..." (Brosnan in chains)
"This November one man will prove that no matter what happens..." (more action sequences from DAD)...."James Bond will die another day."

Personally, I don't want a voice over though. I'd like a trailer driven by dialogue. Like the Spiderman one.

But I'd really love to see a trailer with many past references

Some great ideas here, guys!
