Anyone wished the marketing included more of a card motiff?

When we first got glimpes of fan made posters and such, there was a big reliance on card (and Casino) themed posters, I really loved it. As it harkened back to the old days where the marketing was pretty creative. The official teaser poster was rather cool, showing Craig sitting at a gambling table, then when the final poster came out it was a bit underwhelming.

I recall one fanart had Craig and Eva on cards, and I thought that was rather cool, much better than what we eventually got. Anyone agree?

Yes, considerably (I was going to say definitely, but it's been a while since I used that line  ). I would have loved to see more playing card tie-ins, even in the tag lines. Someone around here once suggested "Daniel Craig is James Bond. Deal." as one. Imagine the coolness of that being emblazoned on the teaser poster, especially if they had let there be some cigarette/cigar smoke in it.

Wasn't there also talk of the title sequence including a bullet going through a deck of cards, which would then bleed? It felt like they burned their entire "card quota" on the last few seconds of the titles. They didn't even include that bit in the teaser trailer where someone, I think Le Chiffre, tears a card in half.

Yes, I do wish that there had been more of a casino/card motiff with the marketing behind CASINO ROYALE. I thought that they were on the right track with the teaser poster, which was simply fantastic, and probably the best poster of all of the Bond posters dating back to the beginning of the franchise, and that they should have kept going with the casino motiff in the subsequent marketing.

Yes, I think so. The teaser poster was ace, but the other posters just were variations of that same 'Bond standing outside casino' image.

Eh... I don't know.

It seems like the general consensus was that the teaser poster was out of this world, but the UK quad, US 1-sheet and the international variations left a bit to be desired--I actually liked all of them somewhat equally.

I don't think I would have minded had they gone the card route with the later posters and such, but in all, I'm relatively satisfied with the Casino Royale marketing campaign.

At least we got the card/casino montage in the stunning main title sequence.
