As with virtually all mass market publications released down here these days we'll most likely get the English version. What is the deal with Australia?, any word on who is publishing DMC down under?

Currently translating the tenth chapter, getting to the halfway point. The translation will probably be done by the end of March, leaving ample time for other Bond-related projects that might come out day-and-date on May 28 -- Croatia has never had any Bond books, curiously enough, so it's high time to rectify that.
I obviously can't talk about the contents of the book, although I don't think any of you will be disappointed in it. Faulks knows what he's doing here.

As you can imagine, I'll be quite busy over the upcoming weeks, working to prepare at least two Bond books for the magical 5-28 date -- and itching to join the inevitable discussion, once it's allowable to do so.
In the meantime, I'll be living out my boyhood dream on my own -- doing Bond right, from scratch.

Liking the sound of this.

I'm on Chapter 14 now -- hey, I can translate them faster than Faulks can write them, it's only fair.
And the next book will, incuriously enough, be Casino Royale: its first Croatian translation ever. And then I hope to continue with the Fleming novels all the way down to The Man with the Golden Gun, which would tie into DMC.
I'm also scheduled to do the Quantum of Solace short story collection as a tie-in with the film's release, as well as any other original-timeline novels that might follow DMC. None are on the horizon yet, of course.
BTW, why do I keep picturing Daniel Craig as Bond in DMC? It's totally not right; Faulks even talks about his dark hair. I must be bewitched or something.

Interesting.
I'm assuming that will be the short stories from the For Your Eyes Only and Octopussy and The Living Daylights collections combined together under the “Quantum of Solace” collection title?

It's basically a double-length book now, which is why we're readying it for early November (or late October, as the movie might come out day-and-date here).
DMC is so much fun to work on! I dunno, I tend to think of myself as the author's prime advocate when I'm translating. Sometimes it's not easy. But with someone of Faulks' stature writing the kind of stuff I've been enjoying since I was a wee kid, no untoward enthusiasm is needed. It's just pouring out of my pores.

Yep, I think this conflation has been widely reported.

Seems to be a fairly logical way for them to issue some sort of substantial Fleming tie-in for the film.

But I have utmost certainty in the market performance of both Devil May Care and Casino Royale, so I have a hunch my wish will pan out. And I can't imagine a better way to earn one's salary while pursuing creative endeavours.
