I don't know about everyone else but I think a knife fight would add a certain danger to a movie. Much more heartpounding than a fist fight, maybe not even between Bond and a baddie but two characters who you don't know who'll win. What do you all think?

Well if it is done, it must be with Bond, the last time we had something similar in a Bond movie it was between Jinx and Frost, and we all know how that turned out! :D, But I agree with the statement about it adding many elements of Danger, especially with Craigs Bond.

Funnily enough, I was considering the idea of a knife fight in Bond the other day. Not entirely sure why! I think it could be particularly cool if filmed correctly though.

Yeah it could be quite good. But I think the sort of fight we had in CR between the black man with the machete and the unarmed was much better than if Bond had also had a knife.

Well, you know what they say: "Never bring a knife to a gunfight." :D

If it fit in with the storyline, then I don't see why not.

He brings a knife you bring a gun, he sends one of yours to the hospital you send one of his to the morgue! :P

Curiously, I once heard an off-duty police officer site the corollary, "Never bring a gun to a knife fight."

I'd actually like to see Bond in a knife fight. For one thing, there's a long tradition of knife fighting training in British special operations history (at least back to the second World War). For another, knife fighting can be very surprising, fluid or abrupt, leaving a lot of room for a fight choreographer to come up with something truly novel. Additionally, knife fights have a high degree of danger for all participants. It's not unusual for all opponents to be wounded. If the fight is run realistically, this additional element adds additional risk and drama to the fight.

I saw the thread title and instantly remembered Mitch Hedberg's reaction to the club sandwich: "I'M FOR 'EM!"

A knife fight, if done properly, could become my new favorite fight scene in Bond history. I'd love to see what they could do with a knife fight if given some CR-style choreography.

I think a knife fight would fit the DC zeitgiest. Plus all the reasons stated above.

I think Bond's fight with Kananga is pretty good. It's time for another!

A good knife fight can be an extremely suspenseful sequence on film. Anyone ever see The Hunted? It's a fantastic example of a suspenseful knife-fighting based film.

A knife fight is frenetic, deadly, and one thing is guaranteed: No-one walks away without cuts. I wouldn't mind seeing Bond in one at all, especially Craig, if only to see Bond have to get sliced a little before winning.

Hmmmm, perhaps he can gain that cheek scar the novels describe him as having in the midst of one... :D
