I have always wondered why you never hear a single word about Diana Rigg's experiences/opinons about her bond role. For someone as well known as she is, you'd think there'd be something floating around this big wide web about wat she thought/thinks now.
The only comment i think ive ever heard/read from her was her 1969 comment on the dvd 'its an epic, always wanted to know what it feels like to be in an epic' etc. To me that just sounds like 'they offered me a lot of money and i took it'.
Anyone around these boards got any interviews or know of any she's given over the years regarding her experience on the movie and being a bond girl?

I would think she has mixed feelings over the role. After OHMSS she never really hit the heights that she had when she was in the Avengers. I think she's generaly remembered as Emma Peel rather than Tracy Bond. Unlike Joanna Lumley who went from OHMSS to the Avengers and a bigger career.

It would be nice to hear her comments about OHMSS as it's now one of the popular films in the franchise, something it struggled to be at the time. Back then I doubt if anyone who was in or around the film wanted to say much about it.

I could understand why shed be reluctant to talk about it immeditately after its release, but its been hightly regarded for years now, her silence makes it seems like she's washed or hands of the movie, embarressed by it, which is a shame
No one on these boards got any interviews/comments shes made since?

She prefers classic theater work to "pop art" "cult" TV and movies, therefore, if you meet her, don't bother talking about either The Avengers or James Bond. If you want to bed her, you're better off talking about Shakespeare or any classic stuff.

Pretty much what stamper said. Her passion is the theatre- it's where her heart is at and what she loves. You have to think about it from her perspective; she probably gets asked most about two gigs she got 40 years ago (Emma Peel and Tracy). She has talked about them on occasion and she doesn't seem to hold any ill feelings towards them. She'd just rather talk about theatre.

It's nice that she has her passions, but she also sounds a bit pretentious if she regards TV and movies as "pop art".

Whether its Shakespeare, James Bond or Buffy the Vampire Slayer . . . it's all entertainment to me.

Perhaps she simply wants to disengage herself from the part, and be involved in other things.

The most recent thing I saw Diana Rigg on was 'Extras' last year. She didn't do too much really. Anyone else seen that episode? One of her scenes can be found here - alongside Daniel Radcliffe.

I wonder if she even did much press for OHMSS when it was out, particularly with Lazenby being somewhat on the outs after he announced he wouldn't do anymore Bonds. I believe she's on one of those canned interviews on the OHMSS DVD in the special features section but don't know of much else.

I understand if her passion is the theatre and such, but by not acknowledging some of the roles that made her famous, it may not have made her name at all. And wouldn't talking about those roles also lead some fans to seek out her other work? I enjoy her roles in films like The Assasination Bureau and The Hospital, which I watched solely because I liked her so much on The Avengers and it made me want to see more of her roles.

But she does acknowledge what The Avengers did for her, she just doesn't want to do focus on it in every interview, and despite being an Avengers fan, I don't blame her one bit.

So, I'm guessing OHMSS didn't do as much for her career as The Avengers, eh? :D

Correct. The Avengers brought her international fame, it was the platform that introduced Diana Rigg to the world. The Avengers was shown in 120 countries around the world.

But I guess your comment was more to do with the lack of OHMSS acknowledgement. Well, she is simply better known as Emma Peel more than anything else and as such she doesn't get asked as often about Bond as she does The Avengers.
