although it was a sappy ending, Bennett never fails to deliver :D

... He seems to have a hard time doing performances these days tho... maybe it's health problems or something...

Well, he is 80, so that may have something to do with it... :D

lol, didn't realize he was that old... I kinda thought he was about the same age as Tom Jones (who still hops around a fair amount during a performance)

There are far worse things, but this certainly isn't any benefit.

True, true... :P

I must say, though, this was almost as bad as Die Another Day. :D

I may be showing my age, but I really don't know what you guys expected. I think Fergie did OK. First, it's not an easy song to sing, especially if you're trying to bring something of yourself to it, and not just do a retread of McCartney. She did that in some places, but in others, I'll agree, she sounded way too much like Axl Rose. (Also, it's not the kind of song she normally sings.) Second, she's singing it live while dancing, which can't be easy either. And third, the place was filled with all manner of entertainment, sports and political VIPs. It's not hard to imagine she was probably nervous. I don't think she hit the song out of the park by any means, but I also don't think she struck out.

Now the rappers singing "Shaft"? THAT was heinous. Where's Jamie Foxx when you need him?

it wasn't hideous, no... but it just wasn't very good imo. There were parts that sounded decent, sure, but there were many where it just sounded like screeching or messy translation of the song... that's why I didn't like it. I did like the end with the rope bit though... that was very cool, and very Bondian.

Oh, I'll give you that one. Way over the top. The staging was ridiculous. On a '67 "Casino Royale" level.

That was interesting... and a bit disturbing.

I think I will have to stick with the original version from Sir Paul.

It seems like every youngish female singer says that at some point...

To be fair, I thought she was fine and suited her role in Dick Tracy...
