Ok so I had to post this amusing tale here to get some thoughts from other CBn'ers, and to see if you've had similiar experiences.

My friend in London and I have been exchanging messages on myspace recently and I happened to ask him if he had seen Casino Royale and what did he think of Daniel Craig as Bond.. My friend ,Steve, wrote back and said he not seen CR because another friend of his advised him it was not too good and that all the product placement from Sony made it look like one long commercial!! Honestly I was NOT at all bothered by the Sony product placement. I think Steve's friend missed the point of CR entirely!! Anyways I wrote back to Steve, defending Casino and Daniel Craig and strongly urging him to rent it! Anyways I just checked Steve's myspace message board a few minutes ago and found a message from his friend saying, and I quote:

"Don't listen to Dave. Casino Royal (he mispelled it!!) is not the best Bond film ever. That would be The Man With The Golden Gun!!" Oh Pulllleeeze!!! I restrained my self in writing back, by suggesting to Steve to at least see Casino Royale and make up his own mind AND I did add that Golden Gun is one of the weakest!!.

As for his friend.. sure its fine if he doesn't care for Casino Royale, but to say that The Man With The Golden Gun is better than it???!! What the hell??!!!

I'm am trying not to totally bash this guy for his opinion, but I would like to see how many CBn'ers here would say Golden Gun is a better film than Casino Royale!!

Well, The Man with the Golden Gun isn't taht bad, but I prefer Casino Royale all the way.

You should tell to your friend... "$600.000.000. Period."

Look up both movies in IMDB. MWTGG 'trivia' says that the grosses were so low, it almost ended the series. CR, on the other hand, went on to become the top grossing Bond film.

On the other hand, let him decide. It's his loss.

Tell your friend that not seeing Casino Royale will make him an incomplete person and that he will die poor, lonely, and miserable ! As for the guy who said MWTGG is better than CR, well, your friend should already know his opinion is not to be trusted.

I was annoyed by the product placement too but it is much less noticeable on the small screen so this shouldn't be a big deal. While I listen to the advice of friends, I do take it with a grain of salt. Explain again that you are a serious Bond fan & CR is worth a rental (at least). He can then make the call if it's better than TMWTGG (which it is ).

Yes.. i should have been more clear sharpshooter. It was Steve's friend who i guess had seen Casino Royale and advised him not to see it. Thanks for all the fun advice everyone! I'm gonna see what kind of reply I get from Steve before I try and persuade him further..I swear you have NO idea what its like getting into a debate with him! He and I have been doing this since 7th grade!! LOL
