No, a fellow called Albert Walker does, but apparently Ed Harris contributes there. :D

I actually kinda liked it(or at least the 1st 2/3 of it) the 1st few times I saw it at the theater and on DVD. I haven't actually watched it in full since 2003 though. Skimming that recap post-CR makes me wonder how much I would still enjoy it today by comparison since the quality has made the most radical turn for the better since TLD. TWINE, for example, has really gone down for me post-CR while OHMSS had gone up post-CR for me. I think I would probably still enjoy DAD in a 1970s Bond comedy type way although usually if I'm in the mood for a funny Bond film I think I'd probably pick one of Roger's first. Anyway, the Bond series probably needed to go as OTT as it did with DAD to make the CR reboot possible so both DAD critics and defenders can appreciate it for that.

Cool. Like his style. We could pull all movies apart, and a few home truths doesn't hurt. :D

Yep, I just had a recap of Star Trek 9 go up and a smaller piece on Action Jackson is on the way at some point.

Oh, goodie; that'll be fun. :P

By the way, when are you blokes ever going to get around to doing DAF and YOLT? Those two are practically screaming for recaps! :D

Well, we tend to go for the monumentally awful rather than the simply mediocre. We did a huge piece on the '67 Casino Royale though.

I know; that was freakin' hilarious. :P

Still, you should do the other Bond film of '67; it's so big and dumb, it's practically the proto-Armageddon. Also, it'd be really fun to riff on that volcano lair...

...and the helicopter chase...

...and the plane scene...

... AND the poisoning scene.

My goodness, it's MADE for the Agony Booth. :D

Splendid. Absolutely splendid recap. And I'm glad this was written by a Bond fan; there are one or two "homages" I'd never noticed before. How sad is that?

I think the funniest thing to me was either realizing how well Zao held up in his clinic room fight with Bond (for someone whose bone marrow had just been destroyed), or the fact that Bond started shooting VR bad guys just after cleaning his gun, which means 1) He was cleaning a loaded gun :D , and 2) He needed VR training for the practice of cleaning his gun. (Judo Chop actually raised that second point in discussion yesterday.)

:D Great work! :P

The DAD recap is quite hysterical indeed (not to mention true), but for me the Batman & Robin recap is priceless. That one had me on the floor peeing myself!

Let me preface this by saying I AM NOT defending Batman & Robin. But there is one factual error in the Agony Booth review. We're told B&R was the first movie (specifically the "This is why Superman works alone" line) that implied there were other superheroes in the four Batman movies from 1989 to 1997. Actually, the third film, Batman Forever, mentions Metropolis (the circus' next stop was there). While not referencing Superman specifically, it seems like they were laying the groundwork for referencing other DC characters.

In any case, the review is quite amusing to read.

You mean to say that Agony Booth has not done a recap of DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER or THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN?

Funny stuff.

Thought it missed out on some movie connections though - like the magnet used on Zao's gun being derived from the magnet used on Jaws in The Spy Who Loved Me.

Very enjoyable read, and which I found myself nodding to as I read ("Fans demanded a meaner Bond, so in the next film he beats up paraplegics...") I still enjoy the film, however, for its purely escapist nature. But I enjoy the review even more after watching Brosnan's revenge where Brosnan kills Craig (slicing Layer Cake with The Matador) and then is given leave by M to come back- to repeat DAD! Check it out:

I really don't get what's supposed to be funny or insightful about the article. But then again I don't get the apeal of Desperate Housewives which the author apparently loves. :D.

haha I agree, I agree with everything!

A few baddies pop up but Bond takes care of them, which means he was just cleaning his gun while it was loaded.

My favorite bit is... "Halle Berry swings this huge gun around like she's afraid of breaking a nail." Very true. And I agree with agony booth that she was "horribly miscast" in the role (although it's not as bad as casting Denise Richards as a freaking nuclear scientist). However one thing in the article bothered me. It kept saying she was a CIA agent... but wasn't she NSA (not that I can blame agony booth for not paying that close attention)? It's been a while since I've seen the movie.

I must say though, in their recap for Casino Royale '67, Agony Booth said that Cr '06 (which hadn't come out yet) looked like it was going to be more of the same (in terms of generic Brosnan-era Bond films). I don't think that was the case at all.
