I vaguely remember bits and pieces of The Protectors when I was a little kid. I've seen the DVD sets for fairly cheap prices around, but never picked one up. It's always been on my radar, though, as have certain other ITC shows such as The Champions and Department S.

That's the problem I have, too many interesting series on DVD and not enough time to watch them all. I have my hands full now with M:I season 3 and The Man From UNCLE complete series. The next series I will likely purchase will be M:I season four.

I recently finished The Baron set and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you love The Saint, you'll like this show. It's Saint-lite. Unfortunately, unless you have a region free player, it's not available in the US. The Aussie Umbrella release of it will play on a Mac dvd player so, that might be a workaround.

Didn't think I would ever see the day. The Baron is coming to the US!

That's good news! All I've ever seen is the opening credits, which have only a few seconds of live action footage. What it does have though, makes me think this is the Get Carter of ITC spy shows:

It's not. While there is action and violence, it's nowhere near as violent as Get Carter. The easiest way to describe the Baron is Saint-lite.

I had my hopes up, not for violence per se, but perhaps...grittiness is the word?

Ah well, I will still be purchasing this one eventually.

I've been able to see Jason King and The Persuaders via Netflix in the US. Fun, but my faves remain Danger Man/Secret Agent, The Prisoner, and The Avengers. Other fun (b-list) shows for me are Captain Scarlet, UFO, The Champions, and The Saint (in that order).

A Persuaders film is in development.

As for The Champions:

"McQuarrie and Tom Cruise are planning three more projects together. First up is The Champions, the Guillermo del Toro produced project, which McQuarrie is writing."

Can Tom Cruise truly make a team-centered movie?

For those in the U.S., just go to Amazon.uk and buy the DVD's and have them shipped to the U.S. Just make sure you convert your DVD player first.

Won’t there be a PAL/NTSC problem?

No. I just Googled the make and model of each of the DVD players in my house, found the conversion codes to input on my DVD players and voila, I permanently converted all of the DVD players in my house to region free players. I have a number of PAL DVD sets I purchased from Amazon UK, and they all work just fine on all of my U.S. NTSC TV's. For example, I have Six Million Dollar Man (Seasons 1&2), Bionic Woman (Seasons 1&2), Star Trek the Next Generation Season 3 (slimline version) - which I purchased for about $13 (approx 9 pounds). I've also purchased seasons from Amazon Germany. They have, for example, seasons 1-7 of Bonanza in Germany. My next purchase will be the complete monochrome series for The Saint (right now I only have the U.S. releases). Shipping is about the same all the way from the UK, and I usually get my sets within 1 1/2 weeks. Not bad if you ask me.

I forgot to add The Protectors to my list of (b-list) faves. Oddly, one of the things that made it fresh for me was that the cast is so well into middle age. I found that refreshing in light of the current trend to cast younger and younger (the new Logan's Run film has Carousel hit citizens at age 20, for example). I Netflixed the first few discs and enjoyed the stories.

I remember Strange Report, as NBC picked up that show to broadcast in the USA.
