Just poking around on youtube and found a pair of clips from the Nickelodeon show Stanby! Lights, Camera, Action that Leonard Nimoy used to host.

Listen closely. I think the narrator on those clips is Ed Bishop, of UFO fame (not to mention DAF and YOLT).

Well, of course it's Nimoy hosting the Nickelodeon show. You're talking to a major Trekkie here, I know a Vulcan when I see one! LOL

What I mean is that the bulk of the program seems to have been prepared in England and is narrated, I believe, by Ed Bishop. Nimoy just did the "framing" sequence for American cable.

That would definitely bore the kids who watch Nickelodeon these days. :cooltongue:

No kidding.

I remember a show on Nick back in the day, where all they did was show 60s-era DC comics one panel at a time while actors voiced all the characters.

The sad thing is, I loved it!

Probably better than what's on that channel today though.

Cool find, Genrewriter.

Does that mean we shouldn't try and return to better programming for kids today though? Like life in general, the media is on a slippery slope when it panders to the lowest common denominator.

Huh?

Nickelodeon's television shows these days are making kids less and less mature. In my day, we had a lot of quality live action shows as well as good cartoons. All the live action shows these days are G rated episodes of The OC and the cartoons are for babies.

Are You Afraid of the Dark? isn't on Nickelodeon anymore. Why? Because kids these days would piss their pants if they watched it. :D
