So my parents come up here to NY to visit for a week and while here my dad rummaging through my books like he always does found License Renewed. Since he's the one who got me into the Bond books I lent it to him, he read it while here and asked if he could take it on the trip back to Miami to finish it.

This morning I call him down there to discuss a whole other issue and he asks me "Did I leave that book on the couch?" I told him that I put it with his things and put them in the Durango myself so it's in Miami with him. Yet he and my mom cant' find it.

This really ruined my morning. It was a hard cover, first edition in almost mint condition and it;s lost to me.

I'm sure it will turn up. I'm sure your Dad knows it's importance to you.

US edition? Those can be found on eBay or www.bookfinder.com, so it's replaceable.

It was not the US edition, it was British. I'll look for a new one.

Even a UK 1st edition is really quite easy (and can be found for under $20) to find.

Cool man. If it doesn't pop up I'll have to go that route.

Good news guys, my mother found the book! It took her a while but I'm so happy. It was in a box filled with letters and pictures of my later grandmother. She died on Memorial Day this year and my mother just brought herself to the point where she thought she was able to look over the old memories in the box.

I joked that she was about to read and have a good cry but I screwed up the moment with James Bond.

Phew. For a moment there, I thought your dad's licence would be revoked!

Oh I gave him a stern talking to last night. My original thing was that I would get it back whenever I go down to Miami or he comes up, now the rule is the moment he's done he is to mail it back that very day.

I have no idea what the last word in that sentence means.
