One of the things I value is that, having read the first two "Circle trilogy" books, I have no idea about how the final one will end. Bond adventures, however enjoyable, are quite predictable (you know: the suave and handsome spy does a bit of gambling with a megalomaniac Villain, sleeps with the Villain's mistress, is captured and tortured - yeah, the Villain is slightly upset -, then escapes with the woman ans saves the world). But with Joyce, everything may happen!
Cheer up with you writing!

I'm going through something similar with my grandfather at the moment. So I can definetly "relate" as the Californians would put it.
It's nice to have a little insight on what motivates you. I'm sure Part 3'll be succesful. Just as I'm sure you have the kahunas to make a success out of whatever career you choose.

I'm sorry to hear that, SE. I hope you still have some time with him.
Thanks for the kind words, everyone. Much appreciated. I really, really want to tell the last part of this story, it's just time that's against me.

The further they left London behind them, the more tense she became. Her hand was locked in a tight grip around the window crank handle, desperate for fresh air, yet too afraid to break the silence in the car. Bond was completely immersed in weaving across three lanes without overtly breaking the speed limit, all the while keeping an eye on the traffic behind them, scanning for any pursuers. The steady hum of the engine hung between them like a thick cloud of thunder, only growing in size.
Eventually, her exasperation overtook her. “I need a reason.”
Bond accelerated, his eyes on the road, the fuel gauge, the rear-view mirror – but not on her.
She looked over to him. “Why keep me in the dark?”
“It’s too complicated.”
“Right. And taking up shagging me on a regular basis made it simple.”
His frustration was evident as he sloppily overtook a rusty Skoda. “I didn’t mean to get so close to you.”
“But your penis thought otherwise?”
He gave her a brief glance. “I wanted to look out for you. Make sure the deceit didn’t take too much of a toll.”
She found herself laughing. “Well, and look how that helped.”
“I’m sorry you’ve been depressed.” He shook his head. “But I couldn’t tell you the truth. It’s not how Quade’s organisation works. It’s too dangerous. Believe me, I would have preferred to stay cut off, like you. I loathed the fact that he involved me in your recruitment.”
She frowned. “He did?”
“He wanted another Double-O. I suggested Berkley, but he wanted you.”
She caught on. “Because of my reputation. He thought the Circle wouldn’t suspect me.”
He nodded. “I tried to change his mind.”
“Because you knew I’d fail?”
“Because I didn’t want you to turn into me.”
Damn, I want to finish this book.

And don't worry too much about the break. Look at what a four-year break did for Casino Royale!

Very cool stuff. You definetly have the one liners all ready to go. You'll find people will always crave the quantity but will wait for the quality. Joyce with Bond are quality.
