I was hoping and hoping that we would get the Alps adventure that Charlie had talked about, and here he confirms that the fifth book will be set in the Alps.

While I have not read any of these books, he does appear to be on top of the game and well respected for it.
Best of luck to him.

Interesting to hear how they pushed Hurricane Gold up a bit. Kind of nice though to finish the series next year with the Centenary novel and events going on though.
Every question and answer were thoroughly interesting. Great job!

As for Book 5 being in the Alps, this is absolutely brilliant news. A fitting end to the Young Bond series it being in Book 5. A snow flavoured cover perhaps?

Also, Mister Asterix did a FANTASTIC job with the graphics and layout, which is why this interview is here on CBn and not on my own website. The CBn Interview is a class act.
And I'm also thrilled with the news of Book 5 being set (partially) in The Alps.

I was wondering why the interview was on CBn instead of your website zen. Mister Asterix certainly did do a very impressive job on the graphics and layout.
And, you know I am excited about the Alps featuring in Book 5.

What did you make of Charlie's theory that Moonraker may have been something Fleming was working on pre Bond?Excellent interview! Extremely interesting and informative. Thanks.

Oh it's true. Fleming had the idea back in WW2 as a movie. Acknowledged it at one point when he explained how Moonraker was essentially just an expansion of that story. In the original, IIRC, London was actually destroyed by a V2 though. I think... I'd have to look it up.

Also found it interesting that Charlie said Fleming never liked the idea of sending Bond to North Africa (hence, Charlie selected Mexico over North Africa for HG). Wonder what issue Fleming had with North Africa? Seems like a good Bond locale to me. But I love that Charlie takes into consideration what Fleming would have done (or not done).

I'm always intrigued when Charlie says something like this because he probably has access to unpublished Fleming material or gets these things in conversation with the family...so when he talks Fleming, I listen.I can't recall anything about North Africa that would lead Higson to that conclusion. I don't know..
BTW, speaking of the Fleming family, interesting that Charlie changed "Amaryllis" to "Precious" for fear of possibly offending the family. I haven't yet scanned FAVTAK for the "cheeky" reference to Amaryllis.

You won't find it there.
It's actually in TLD, when he compares "Trigger" the Russian cello player to Amaryllis somebody...
