I was incredibly hesitant about viewing "Casino Royale" because of the changing of the Bonds. I didn't know that it was going to be about "the beginning" of Bond as a 00. (Reason #1 why Craig fits like a glove. An older Bond can't pull off the "beginning")

When we saw photos of him it didn't do him justice. We didn't know the script was going to be about a rugged, new, fresh out of the military kind of Bond. When I began watching the movie I was blown away. From the opening "foot chase" stunt I knew that I had seen something very special. I liked too the location and it more realisticly matched a Bond in the field. I always pictured Bond as a military field operative. I always wondered, how did he come about. This movie clearly answered that question. So, immediately I knew that he definitely could pull off the butt kicking side of Bond that we all kind of craved. He's a Bond for my generation. (An action hero)

Then I began to wonder about whether we had traded in the suave Bond for an action hero. Again, I was disturbed, but still was very much enjoying the show. Then, I saw Craig do the charming, suave, babe magnet thing that is so prevalent in all or most Bond films. I was like, dear God, he can really act! So when the Bond girl (forgive me I can't think of her name, but she was incredible) and he are on the train, in the back of the car, and all that... it was really a magical thing. The chemistry was there and I dare to say that they were, to some degree, genuinely attracted to one another. Needless to say it really went off well. (Reason #2 that he fits like a glove... Craig is an incredibly versatile actor with a lot of depth.) So now, I know that Craig is both the suave Bond we always have wanted and he can kick butt!

The love scenes were not overdone as in some of the previous bond stories. This is a new, fresh, Bond fresh off the block and the script was tailor made for Craig. I can't imagine anyone else pulling off this script. This was the only book that hadn't been made into a serious movie. (a spoof of it was made i think?)

I couldn't imagine another Bond. I always thought Connery had the market cornered on Bond. I really didn't like any of the other Bonds as much. I did like Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan. Yet, I knew that with Connery I would get the kind of 60's / 70's classic Bond that I grew up with as a kid. When Roger Moore came along... I didn't think it was going off as well, but it was adequate. Never liked the other guys. When Pierce hit the scene we were like, well here comes Remington Steele and thank God. I had always thought of him as Bond, probably because I have seen so much Remington Steele and I wanted him as Bond. So, when they decided to can Brosnan we were not ready to write him off. We just weren't. Yet, I must admit, I wondered how they were going to bring Bond into the new millenium to compete with people like Jason Bourne. (Bourne Identity Series) Still, to this day, my favorite fight scene is when Jason Bourne is stabbing dude who crashes through the window with the ink pen. Loved it! So see, we needed someone to bring Bond into this era of movies. That entailed competing with such fight scenes. Pierce couldn't do the fight scenes. Not like Craig. I'm sorry. I dare to say that the Bond movie series would have died without Craig.

For the record, I was the staunchest of opponents to replacing Pierce, but now, I see Craig as the saviour of the franchise, a Bond for my generation, and now... YES, MY FAVOURITE BOND. (notice i spelled favorite in British English and not American English... I'd do my madonna accent for you now, but I'm sure you've had enough) Anyway, Craig... I'm with you! Woot Woot! I resisted watching the movie for almost a year, whatever, but finally gave it a chance. God, did i miss out! What if I had died and never seen a good version of Casino Royale? Yes, I can die now.
