Reports suggest further locations have been scouted in the Basilicata region of southern Italy

I haven't seen this posted anywhere else but this story from the Italian state news agency ANSA suggests that further locations have been scouted in the Basilicata region of southern Italy for use in BOND 22.

These include the town of Craco in the province of Matera, the viaducts of the Montecotugno di Senise dam, and the road around San Biagio and Maratea in the province of Potenza.

It seems as though the news came from the regional Lucania Film Festival in Pisticci. More photos of the area can be found at this page.

Just to add to that, found this photo of the town of Craco. To add some speculation about what this location could be used for, I'm getting quite a North African vibe to this place, so perhaps Algeria? The town was also used for filming THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST.

I really don't think they can go wrong with Italian locations. It really is a gorgeous country, and as far as 'Bond' is concerned, underused. Outside Venice, of course. :cooltongue:

Bond hunting down the Algerian perhaps. Good to see some old, traditional locales.

I can see some jumping from a rooftop to a rooftop and running in a narrow alleys in my near bondian future.

Great location by the way :cooltongue:

Indeed. I hope they go for some night ops infiltration.

Nice signature by the way.

Ah, the benefits of speaking foreign languages...

I had heard that Italian websites reported this a few days ago, but couldn't find sources in a language that I understand and was thus unable to make a proper story out of it. Nice to see that your translations matches very good with what I thought that it means.

Thanks for sheding some light on this.

Who else is hoping we see Daniel running around the desert wearing a turban like Timothy Dalton in The Living Daylights? I was disappointed we never got to see Brosnan like that, excluding the pre-credits from Everything or Nothing. Would be very cool to see Daniel undercover.

He wore one in The Deceivers. It didn't suit him.

Is that a recent picture of Craig in Italy with the camera? If so, look at his outfit...perhaps he was being filmed for some scenes. He appears to be dressed as Bond in that image.

Most of us have already seen that picture, but yes, that's the conclusion many of us reached :cooltongue:

It's interesting that many of the locations for BOND 22 seemed to be in Italy, considering that CASINO ROYALE ended more or less in Italy.

While it's still too early to know that for sure, it certainly wouldn't be a disappointment.

True...that is indeed very interesting. I find myself hoping that will be directly related to the plot.

I think he was shooting....shooting the movie that is. Someone already said that Craig is the ghost-director of Bond 22 :cooltongue:

I'd say that Siena will be an original location, as with the strong restrictions they had for shooting the Palio, I very much doubt that the officials would have given permission if it was intended for it to only double for somewhere else.

As for the other possible locations:

- a road from point A to point B. Can double for almost any place. Could as well be a road in a beautiful landscape, typical Northern Italian, and we see Bond heading towards Siena in the Aston.

- a dam. Reminds me of the dam in the opening shot of GE. Supposed to be in Archangelsk - in reality, it's in the Swiss Alps (so much for possible locations in Switzerland )

- an interesting looking town that screams 'double' cause it looks so much like North Africa that it's hard to believe that it's actually located in Italy at all.

Doesn't look like 'largely set' in Italy so far.

Maybe this location will serve as part of the rooftop chase mentioned in the Palio chase scene. Look at all those roofs, practically made for jumping!

Cool news. Nice locations.

Off topic, sorry, but wouldn't the title RISICO make sense with all this italian flavour?

Looks like this might all be North Africa (including the horses?) or actually Italy (I would prefer this - for authenticity - silly me), after all Mr White was apparently killed outside a fancy villa in Italy. It would sort of make sense.

I wonder what they will pinch from the Bourne Ultimatum. I didn't realise how similar the Vesper death scene is to the death of that German bird in Bourne Supremacy until I saw Ultimatum. Irritatingly similar (couldn't they have done it differently). Sorry, way off topic.

Although the Vesper death scene was very similar, how about Bourne killing the assasin in Algeria in the bathroom, by strangulation, and looking pretty unsure about it - was that not a direct rip-off of the CR pre-credits bathroom sequence? As my wife said, after that scene in BU she was waiting for someone to enter the doorway and Bourne to turn and shoot...
