Does anyone know the exact names of these spots / villas and where they are located?
Anyone been there or knows if these places are open to the public? Will probably head there next year and it may be worth a look.

The official website had a small article on the Lake Como locations in September 2006. CBn's report: http://commanderbond.net/article/3603
Thanks qwerty. I'm surprised no one on this forum has been there.
I'll definately visit the villa next year.

Just on these two villas, are we to assume that the hospital IS located at Lake Como in the movie? It's sure gives me that impression. For the record, the exterior of the hospital where Bond makes his recovery is the Villa del Balbianello, whereas Mr White's estate is the Villa la Gaeta. I'm not sure whether these are available to visit though - I think they may be privately owned estates.
Because I find it hard to believe that Bond just happens to be recovering in the same locale as Mr White's estate.

I've been there for a while this summer! I don't know where the hospital-scene was shot, but I DO know where mr. White's villa is. It is located at the west-side of lake como above a town called Mennagio. If you follow the (lake)road from Mennagio to the north, you'll see the villa after +- 30 minutes at your right. Unfortunately there's a wall around the house, but you can see a lot of it if you would rent a boat there or take a flight with a waterplane from town Como.
Good luck,

It certainly sounds like a Bond location to visit. You'll have to tell us about it upon returning.

Thanks for the info Djiem and Vauxhall. I think that Villa Balbianello is a national trust property and thus open to the public. From what Djiem has said it sounds like Mr White's villa is off limits.
Qwerty if i do end up going, i will take lots of pics to share.

The villa Gaeta is private property, but you are able to rent one of two vacation homes in the villa. The minimum period is for seven days. We had asked for two days in the summer, which was not possible. So we changed our travel planning this year and made a trip to Karlovy Vary (Carlsbad).
For further information you may may watch on this German page http://www.fewo-come...info/gaeta.html There should exist also an Englisch version
