If Haggis really does that much word on the screenplay, are they even really needed at all?
It would still be interesting to see what their CR draft looks like.

As I've stated, while I'm not a fan of P&W's work prior to Casino Royale, I do believe they are solid idea guys. There's a lot of good stuff in TWINE and DAD that just wasn't done the way it should have been due to the directors, the producers, and the actors. I like Haggis, but I'm not sure he's the type I would go to to write a solo Bond adventure. He seems to be the guy you would call up to make it more dramatic and thrilling with better dialogue etc.
Still I wouldn't be surprised if he was given the shot to write the next one on his own. He sounds like he's considered doing one or the other, or maybe both from the quote. After Casino Royale and seeing a lot of his past work, I'd be interested in seeing something like that, but cautious at the same time.

I would agree that their ideas are solid. Their Brosnan scripts featured unique and innovative action sequences - TWINE had a ski chase involving parahawks, and DAD had hovercrafts racing across a minefield, but neither were directed particularly well. The TWINE chase was just dull, and the DAD chase was too over the top. I have no problem with them laying the foundations, as long as Haggis is there to build the actual house
