"I owe it all to Frank Sinatra, the song was playing when she came into the room..."
I didn't dream it was over and it isn't!
Heard the new single, Don't Stop Now, from reformed band today. Wonderful stuff.
Seeing them play with The Feeling and Peter Gabriel in July (few weeks after I also see Steely Dan play - grrrrrrr8).
Sorry, just wondered if anyone else shared my passe and old fashioned music taste? (Or, as I prefer to think of it, classic, timeless, crafted music for everyone).
Anyone else going to the gigs?
You know more Crowded House songs than you think you do...
Don't Dream It's Over
Weather With You
Fall At Your Feet
Better Be Home Soon
Instinct
Not The Girl You Think You Are
Nails In Your Feet
Distant Sun

Yes, I am a fan. They are big Beatles fans, and I think anyone who likes the Beatles would appreciate The House.
They are playing a few gigs around Sydney, too. I wish I'd seen them in 2004 - they played an impromptu gig at the Coogee Beach Hotel.

I like their music but I am more of a greatest hits fan (& they did have quite a few as you point out). This was one of my favorites:

I also love "It's only natural".

As much as I love the 'House', this just doesn't feel right without the late Paul Hester. I know life goes on and all that, and Neil Finn is a genius, but I just can't imagine Crowded House without 'Hessy'

Yup, good point DaveBond21. I lurve The Beatles too.
It's Only Natural is a great song.
I've seen them play a number of times but thought they'd never get back especially after the tragic suicide of funnyman drummer Paul Hester, God rest his soul.
I can't wait for the reccud.

Back in the late 80s I was a fan but I haven't heard anything from them since then. Of course I loved Split Enz much more.

Good band. I think "Together Alone" is their best album.

I prefer Australian Crawl.
Just joking (though I like AC, too). Wouldn't say I was a Crowded House fan, exactly, but I like most of their stuff and think the Finns are excellent songwriters.

I totally agree. My fave Crowded House song is Catherine Wheels but Together Alone itself is sublime. I love the haunting ache of this reccud.

The Making of Together Alone - Part 2
(Sad to see Paul Hester in the clips above - always so full of life)
Together Alone (Neil Finn/Bud Wehi/Mark Hart)
Together alone
above and beneath
we were as close
as anyone can be
now you are gone
far away from me
as is once will always be
together alone
anei ra maua (here we are together)
e piri tahi nei (in a very close embrace)
e noha tahi nei (being together)
ko maua anake (just us alone)
kei runga a Rangi (Rangi the sky-father is above)
ko papa Kai raro (the earth mother is below)
e mau tonu nei (our love for one another)
kia mau tonu ra (is everlasting)
Together alone
shallow and deep
holding our breath
paying death no heed
I'm still your friend
when you are in need
as is once will always be
earth and sky
moon and sea
