Benton brings along Johnny, who I turned into a 19-year-old Harvard freshman. I just couldn't see a 11-year-old boy running around a movie like this.

Not to be rude, but the fact that Jonny is 11 years old is the whole point. If he's 19, he's old enough to be responsible for his own life. The fun is doing all the James Bond stuff without any responsibility, and having adults look after you and clean up the messes you get into.

About 3 yrs ago I bought a used video from a Blockbuster store. It had a purple box and was a JQ video form Turner's Cartoon Network. I had liked JQ when I had seen it on TV. I thought maybe my 5 year-old [at that time]son would like it. He did and we bought the other JQ Turner tapes and recorded some episodes off of TV (along with some Space Ghost episodes to make our tapes similar to what the Turner tapes had on them). My son is now 8 y-old and we have the DVDs. We still occasionally watch an episode.

My only hesitancy with my son watching JQ is that there is no reaction from JQ when people get blown up or whatever (even if they are usually the bad guys). I did see Jonny wince once when Race shot a panther [or some type of animal]. I can't remember off-hand which episode it was.

Hilarious non-PC bit from Family Man starring our hero.

B) Very Glad to see this post. Did not see it before. Love Jonny Quest the first 26 episodes (original). I remember watching them when they were prime time in the 1960's with my father and he remarked how real it looked with the animation like when they would shoot a rifle there would be recoil etc.
There was a Bond influence in that show for sure. They could make a Bond cartoon if they wanted in the spirit of this show and I think it would go over well.
The DVD that is available is edited because of some politically incorrect dialog from Race when he calls some natives "heathen monkey's". What ever happened to sticks and stones??
Good post and check out YouTube for tie in commercial with PF Flyer tennis shoes.

So what are our thoughts, ideas, feelings about Jonny Quest? I only vaguely recall the show myself. Do we have any Quest fans here? If so, what's essential to the Quest universe? What turns (or turned) you on or off to Quest? Is there anything that quintessential "Questian"?

So they've cast a 21 year old and they're not going to call it Jonny Quest. So this is a Jonny Quest movie how? Pass.

I’ve been excited about the idea of seeing a Jonny Quest film since the late ’60s, but for this? I’m out.

Efron makes a lot of business sense, but I think losing the name would be a big mistake.

I don't mind them changing Jonny's age but Efron and losing the name Jonny Quest is where I have to draw the line.

Wow, this thing is barely off the ground & it's already a disaster. Hopefully, someone will come to their senses before it's too late. B)
