On the front page it looks like it says 72 million bonus. Still, he's the money - every penny of it.
I thought that too. Well, at least then he definitely wouldn't feel hard done by!

Either that or buy them all a copy of Casino Royale and attach a little note saying, "Go ahead. You know you want to. Nobody's gonna know. -Dan"

If I were him I might divvy it up among all the CNB admins and forum members and mail them each a check with a note saying, "You need this more than me. Best, Dan."
I couldn't agree more. Well I could but it's enough. Now, for the check.

Evidently - evidently - he was about to walk and "they" had to pay him to stay.

Probably.
Or perhaps not.
If he were to walk, they could sue him.
Craig is not A list rich...not even remotely and it's only been within the last year and change that he's been earning more than bread line. He could'nt afford to lose a law suit.
By the way, Jim, where did you ((probably) evidently) hear this (or perhaps not hear this)?

It's nice that Eon recognizes how good he is and has decided to start to treat him well early on..
Maybe now he can afford to die that terrible hair black so he looks like bond! bwaahaahaa

Firstly, I'm pretty sure Jim was joking. However, Craig has absolutely no reason to walk away from Bond at this point. He's proven his detractors wrong a hundred times over (many acclaim him - with considerable justification - as the best Bond ever) and is leading the franchise into an artistic and commercial golden age that will be very, very lucrative for him.
Secondly, I don't think Craig has exactly been earning breadline wages for quite a few years, although I grant you that, even today, he isn't "A-list rich", and may never be. At a guess, the only Bond actor who's managed to accumulate a fortune close to the Gibson/Schwarzenegger/Stallone/Willis league is Connery, and even then I imagine he's poorer than any of those guys.
Anyway, with two mil Craig'll be able to buy a house in London. Well, a semi, at least.

Brozza got a nice bonus after GoldenEye too didn't he?
No. He got his bonus, after DAD. The Door!

'twas a mere frippery.
But no doubt someone, somewhere, somesoon will decide that it is the truth.

Even with the 2 million extra - in comparision to Hollywood wages, Daniel Craig was paid a mere pittance.
By the same token, if anyone would agree with me that the actors, Craig or those in Hollywood get paid ridiculously amount of money for what they do.
I guess people here are commenting on the fairness for Craig comparing to his counterparts elsewhere...
But, for anyone of US, 2 mil pounds is more than enough for ourselves, your children, children's children...etc...
So, IMHO, Craig should be grateful.

Double-yup. And it was a bonus. Not an obligation. Craig had already been paid the salary agreed to. Last I heard, 2 million pounds isn't chicken scratch.

Even with the 2 million extra - in comparision to Hollywood wages, Daniel Craig was paid a mere pittance. Eon/Sony are laughing all the way to the Bank. Accolades, financial success and a low earning star. No doubt Daniel Craig will have his lawyers check out the 3-movie deal figuring out loopholes to ensure he gets a juicy increase for Bond 22 and Bond 23. One question, how does Craig's salary compare to Brosnan? I heard Brosnan did well - kind of surprising considering the only thing credit worthy (???) he had done previous to Bond was Remington Steele.
Brosnan was the "heir-apparent" to Moore after AVTAK and was still on the minds of many during Dalton's tenure. IICR, Brosnan got between $2-3 million for GE and his salary crept upwards with each Bond film. Since DAD was Brosnan's "option" film, EON/MGM had to pay through the nose with salary and points.
Craig doesn't have the cache to ask for "points" or performance bonuses. That being said, $4 million ain't nothin' to sneeze at. Bond 22, may see a bump in salary but by the time Craig's tenure is over, I can't see him making over $10-15 million to play 007.
