For everyone who use to watch Mystery Science Theater 3000 and doesn't know about RIFFTRAX. Mike Nelson rocks and has released his own Casino Royale Commentary.

A spine-tingling thrill ride that moves from the exotic poker tables of Montenegro, to the exotic hotel rooms of Montenegro, then back to the poker tables, then the rooms again, then a return visit to the poker table for a more extended stay, then a short rest and back to the poker table! And there's killing, too! And lot's of sweet lovin', if you're into that.

Daniel Craig inhabits the role of James Bond, the dashing MI6 agent who holds a license to kill, as well a license to wax his chest and wear tiny, undignified swimming trunks. Eva Green is Vesper Lynd, (get it?) the hot-to-trot financier who administers the majority of Bond's lovin', with luscious Caterina Murino batting clean-up. And Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen stars as Le Chiffre, a sardine-faced villain and numbers genius (he can make change for a dollar without punching it into the cash register!)

Joining Mike is Kevin Murphy. Both Mike and Kevin have a license to Riff. *This RiffTrax will only work with the Region 1 (North America) DVD and is only available as an NTSC download!

Interesting.

I guess that last paragraph is because NTSC and PAL run at different speeds.

I read somewhere where a commentary for NTSC can be adjusted for PAL (or vice versa), but can't remember where at the moment.

It's like they knew I'd buy it! MST3k and James Bond; it'll be a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup of awesomeness.

Is Vesper's name a gag? I'm shamed to admit that I've never got it if it is.

Kevin Murphy's the other guy on the commentary, and he was Tom Servo. So you're getting 2/3rds of the MST3K guys with this.

Some of the commentaries have Bill Corbett, who was Crow on the SciFi channel shows too.

Some have said that "Vesper Lynd" is supposed to have derived from "West Berlin."

I've downloaded the commentary, but I think I need to get a couple friends over here cause MST3K was always better with company. :cooltongue:

I guess that last paragraph is because NTSC and PAL run at different speeds.

I don't really understand how one couldn't listen to the NTSC commentary with a region 2 DVD... I mean the DVD's are the same right? Oh it confuses me. Anywho... they seem to usually have a choice of NTSC or PAL so maybe they'll be releasing the PAL commentary for Casino Royale sooner or later.

It's so funny cause when I hear Kevin Murphy talking I picture Tom Servo's head in front of my TV... same goes for Bill Corbett and Crow. Hee hee

Is Vesper's name a gag? I'm shamed to admit that I've never got it if it is.

Some have said that "Vesper Lynd" is supposed to have derived from "West Berlin."

Oh wow! Never new that. I can totally see how that would work too. Thanks JackWade!

And PAL plays 4% faster than NTSC, so even if they were the exact same version, it would go out of sync. I've watched NTSC while listening to fan commentaries done on PAL versions (like the Bond ones on the site Blofeld's Cat linked) without tweaking the speed and it gradually drifts. If I don't re-sync at points, by the end the PAL folks are a few minutes ahead of what I see.

Anyway, I'm a fan of MST3K and Rifftrax, so I was happy to see they decided to riff on CR. It was an entertaining listen. I hope for more Bond riffing in the future.

I watched Casino Royale with RIFFTRAX last night. Quite funny. Some thin skinned Casino Royale fans might have a problem with it making fun of such a great film, but keep telling yourself it’s only an MP3 you should really just relax.

I’m not sure non-Americans would find this RIFFTRAX as enjoyable as Americans as there are a lot of references to baseball players and other oddball American culture things. Still plenty of other funny bits.

Any Bond fans who are also MST3K fans, this is a must buy.

I listened to the sample on the site and quickly decided it ain't worth buying. If what I heard in the sample on the site is indicative of what's on the whole "commentary" it ain't worth buying.

Bit of a bump, but I just finished watching the riff of Casino Royale for myself and I loved it. If you don't have a group of friends handy, you can always share the file with some friends over a chat app and just all watch the film at once.

Not a lot of the humor is really appealing only to Americans. Just replace any references to Wisconsin with whatever part of the UK is reserved for hooligans.

I also recommend if you have the DVD of it, to get the rifftrax for Star Trek V. Best one on their site, hands down.
