Of course, we only have our individual experiences to base these opinions on, but I have found that even some casual fans took sides, just not as passionately as we saw here. I don't think it was a stretch for me to suggest that a very different Bond (as much of a 180 as has ever happened, I'd say) drew in new fans and upset some existing ones, and that the conflict and changing "consensus" we saw arose because of that transition...I was coming from the point of view that most people in the real world don't really care much whether it's Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig or 'that guy that used to be on that one show with the hot chick and the other funny dude'. There's not that many people on the planet left, surely, who can muster a whole bunch of passion in re who's the actor in the Bond role, right? Aside from the initial gossip factor of it, does anyone really care?
Honest question here: like who? And could it be that DAD was ranked highly where it's now not as popular because many of those people no longer post here (remember, it's been four years)?I actually disagree with Publius, I think there's quite a few former Brosnanites who turned against him very quickly. Sort of like if you go on that rank the 20 Bond films, and Die Another Day is in the top five for the first few pages, and then drops to the bottom five when we reach 2004.
