How many Oscar winning actors have appeared in Bond films?
Correct me if I am wrong, I can come up with four.
Any others I may have missed?

Halle Berry
Judi Dench
Christopher Walken
Sean Connery

Benicio del Toro

Whoa!
Thanks. In a million years I wouldn't have remembered that.

Never saw TRAFFIC, but have to say Benicio sure made Dario into a great little villain.

I'm so glad Berry won an Oscar for her performance in Die Another Day.

'The Ultimate James Bond Fan Book' has a list of such people, I believe.

Actually, I have a section on Oscar winners in my book, not just the actors, but there's John Barry, Lindy Hemming, Ken Adam...quite a lot actually.

The complete actor list is

Kim Basinger
Halle Berry
Sean Connery
Benicio Del Toro
Judi Dench
Christopher Walken

Er, sorry for this, but you are also missing another Oscar-winner who appeared in a Bond film, The Living Daylights...

John Barry

BTW, Thunderball was the second Bond film to win an Oscar (John Stears - Best Special Effects).
The first was Goldfinger - Norman Wanstall won the Oscar for Best Sound Effects.

Not quite ones that were infront of the camera, but Bill Conti, Lindy Hemming and Freddie Young all received Oscars for their non-Bond work.

john barry won oscars for born free-won 2 score and song, lion in winter, outof africa, and dancing with wolves. also don't forget roger moore was the won on stage when marlon brando refused the oscar and the woman dress in the indian outfit came on stage. roger moore actually had that oscar for a period of time before they made him give it back. since brando refused to take it roger just took it home with him.

Re: Peter Lamont; I didn't mean to imply I was offering a complete list. The list in my book has 17 names, both on-screen and behind the scenes. Very nice catch about John Barry appearing on-screen, I forgot that!

Bond films have won 2 Oscars, Goldfinger and Thunderball. Five other Bond films were nominated but did not win.

In addition, Cubby Broccoli won the Thalberg Award, which is a lifetime achievement award given to producers. Since more than half of Cubby's lifetime work was on Bond, it can be considered a Bond award.

No, your book has an excellent, exhaustive list. Very highly recommended.

I apologized because I was being cheeky. Technically, John Barry is the other person who has appeared in a Bond but, of course, he was not an actor.

Your excellent book does mention this, Kara Milovy. There are no flies on you! :cooltongue:

Oh, thank you for being so kind. Did I really remember to mention that Barry was an on-screen Oscar winner? I collated so much information I can't remember it all! The Oscars section was one of the very hardest to write!
