Sony can smell your fear, Tarl. They already have you and they know it.I do have a complaint about the DVD: No deleted scenes!? What's up with that??? I know there is tons of stuff left out-you can see pics in the Casino Royale photo book...So I assume they want me to buy Casino Royale 2.0 huh? Yeah, figures, just like the trailor for the Spiderman 2.1 DVD("with 8 minutes of footage never seen before"). I don't wanna buy this thing twice Eon. I already gave you $30 bucks for theatrical viewings!
Upon second viewing....

Talk about rose-colored glasses... I thought the movie was a disappointment the first time around, and after seeing it again, I still feel the same way.
Thank you for announcing your disappointment with the film twice. We're all enthralled.
PS: You need new glasses.

I do hate it when people join a message board just to advertise they're own site.

Fair enough, JimmyBond, but people here had linked my original review, so I figured somebody might be interested in my second take. If you notice, I didn't just start a new topic but posted in a discussion about second viewings. I realize my opinion isn't going to be very popular around here, but hey, you want to discuss the movie, right? I have been a Bond fan for a very long time, if that makes any difference to you.

Don't get me wrong, this film has three great action set pieces (and the small, a bit weak, stairwell fight),
Stairwell fight weak? I think that was my favorite action sequence in the film. It felt very Fleming and Bond-ish. I liked the Miami airport terrorist fight sequence but it did seem more Bruce Willis-ish and Steve McQueen-ish than 007.
As for being uneven, I would say CR kinda feels like 2 films. The first hour up to Montenegro is the first film, then from where Vesper shows up onwards is the second film(the film of the book). Doesn't make it bad, just an observation I have.

I agree. CASINO ROYALE is like BATMAN BEGINS in that respect. As for being uneven, I would say CR kinda feels like 2 films. That might be more due to the American censors than the actual film though. Reading it in the script that scene oozed with intensity, culminating with Bond offing a villian right in front of Vesper (the scripted death is much better than what got filmed). The few trims that the US cut got really weakens that scene, imo.

I disagree. Having seen the uncut version and the US cut, I think the US cut works just fine. The changes are very minor, if you ask me.The few trims that the US cut got really weakens that scene, imo.

Wow I complained about the stairwell scene? I'm an idiot, forget what I said those many months ago

I feel mostly the same all these months later, with the only exception being Eva Green's Vesper grates me more than she did the first time around, and consequently the length of the film is harder to bear. Everything else is still top-notch, though, especially Craig. I hope Bond 22 is a leaner movie which showcases Craig's Bond's badassery without obligatory drama in the way.
I thought that Green and Craig were far and away the highlights of the film, but I do think that after seeing the film several times, that I always find myself wondering what the other actresses who were supposedly up for the role would have done with it. As far as the rest of the film is concerned, it's a middle of the road Bond film, the only aspect that distinguishes it from some of the lesser entries in the franchise is the brilliant performances by Craig and Green.

Last Bond this good was TLD...I yearn for more gritty Bond *he he*
*wonders if Bond 22 lives up to this* :/
