Hi guys, new poster here.

I recently decided to buy GoldenEye on DVD, but I see there are a couple of different versions available, and I thought I'd check with some knowledgable people about this, because I'm having trouble finding info elsewhere.

There is a single-disc version of GoldenEye just recently released which has apparently been restored and has new DTS sound and not much in the way of special features.

Then there is a version released in the 90's that has quite a number of special features on it.

So here's my question, on these two DVD's, are there any actual differences in the movie itself? I'm not talking about film restoration or sound, but actual content. Like, are there extra scenes or minutes of footage found in one DVD but not in the other?

I read something about these recent re-releases containing footage that was taken out of the theatrical version, because it would have moved the rating up to R from PG-13. But I also read that this unreleased footage was only on the Region 2 DVD release and not on the U.S. version.

So, could somebody clear up these few things for me? Is the version of the GoldenEye movie on the new American DVD exactly the same as on the old DVD?

I believe so.

The region 2 Ultimate Edition DVD of GoldenEye s uncut in that it does indeed contain new scenes (such as Xenia's headbutt which the region 1 release had all along).

Welcome to the CBn Forums, by the way. :cooltongue:

The Ultimate Edition of GE is also cropped incorrectly, resulting in the framing being off. If you want the purest form of the movie get one of the earlier releases.
