Let's hope they retain the noir b&w PTS sequence...

*Ian Fleming's novels, including Casino Royale, Live and Let Die and You Only Live Twice were serious pulp novels, according to critics and Fleming's friend Raymond Chandler. Sadly, that noir feel did not appear in LALD or YOLT because it was unfilmable, according to fatty Cubby (I'm not being mean, but i think there should be atleast be one criticism of Cubby, since people like to criticise God and George Lucas)

Do we really need fat jokes, though?

I too enjoyed the CR's PTS, low-key and atmospheric. But for the future, well, whatever best fits the story. For years we had the big blow-out mini-movie PTS so it was nice to have a change. I'm neither heavily in the camp for one or the other - I just don't want it too become too predictable. When I sit down in the cinema for the first viewing, I want to be surprised, rather than know what's coming before the credits (and a song that is used throughout the film - ie not DAD or TND).

as for Bond 22 I can't foresee a return to this style of filming, as far as I am aware it is a visial aid to represent the past and/or a flashback sequence, the back and white colour, almost surreal atmospheres, the confines of the two settings in which the murder takes place, this all makes me feel the PTS is a memory of bond's as opposed to an actual live account of his initiation, so I can't see any excusable purpose to repeat this in 22, unless they decide to go with a somewhat shameless plot summery of Casino Royale (considering 22 is meant to be a direct sequel)

I am, however, very enthusiastic about moving the gunbarrel to right before the main titles - Could be a very cool trademark of the Daniel Craig era.

I don't necessarily want the black and white, it worked for CR. But a smaller-scale but effective PTS to get the film off on the right note is welcome as opposed to a sprawling stunt fest in an exotic vehicle.

Ugh - no. The last thing we need is for Bond 22 to slavishly copy Casino Royale.
really good point here, and while myown response is desperatly off topic, as it concerns the whole 22nd movie as opposed to purely the PTS, I think neversaynever has struck on something there. indeed, the last thing we need is a new formula to replace the old and equally predictable one. Casino Royale's strenght is sourced mainly in it's brutal originality, the fact that it is often difficult to see as a "bond movie" only proves it's success, if Bond 22 really wants to copy Casino Royale's greatest achievements, it should ignore them!
I got the impression that every frame of casino royale was shot to best suit the story as opposed to fit in the cannon, notably the Black and White PTS and effects like the (drug induced) distortion when Bond enters the Casino bathroom. the same approach should be taken when writing and filming 22, I am just as sure that Black and White should not return as I am that 22's villain will not be killed before the final act! and while both worked brilliantly for royale, 22 needs to be equally original
