Tantalizing thought. Brilliant writer who seems to have been involved in all aspects of film making: well-proven flair for directing and writing, currently producing The Black Donnellys. Hmmm. It is interesting that his name hasn't been even mentioned for screenwriting duties.

What are you talking about? Haggis has been mentioned probably more than anyone as a possible third writer. I mean he did work on Casino Royale. It is interesting that his name hasn't been even mentioned for screenwriting duties.
Haggis to me doesn't sound like a director who would be suitable with a big budget action film. I don't know.
There are better choices here, IMHO.

With our luck the next director will be Rosie O'Donnell. yikes!
And you complain when I say Richard Burton would have been perfect for OHMSS. Humfph.

This sounds promising. 007 will be pitted against an evil housing developer masquerading as a reality game-show host, with designs to take over mass media.......

Unless you're a franchise-type director (John Glen, Renny Harlin) there is limited attraction in getting involved in a series that is into its 22nd installment. And Haggis strikes as a more "artistic" type who has received accolades for his stint in a franchise and would probably consider moving on. Staying on (unless in a re-write capacity) and not delivering up to the well-recieved level of CR would only damage his reputation as a filmmaker. To many franchise = hack.
Of course, he also wrote the pilot for Walker, Texas Ranger,. :-)

Well, actually, he hates that he's attached to that show. He never did any real significant work on it - he did a quick write on something way early just to get some money, and ended up having his name slapped on the thing forevermore because of a contractual thing.Of course, he also wrote the pilot for Walker, Texas Ranger,. :-)

Definitely an interesting thought. I adored his script for Casino Royale and would love to see him return for Bond 22.

I can just imagine the theme song and who I'd get to sing it....(Bird York!)
Remember Purvis and Wade as well. Haggis did a dialogue polish but the unique structure of CR and attention to detail came from two die-hard Fleming fans. Give them some credit.

Pretty much now, the writer of a pilot gets a creator credit. That wasn't always the case. I Spy never had a creator credit. It wasn't until the "I Spy Returns" TV movie, that Morton Fine and David Friedkin were recognized as the creators (and they had both passed away by that time). Gunsmoke, which ran for 20 years, never gave a credit to its creator (John Meston) or composer of the theme music (Rex Koury).
I had read about Haggis's comments about Walker, Texas Ranger, which is why I put the smiley.

I was kidding but this is what brain storming gets you. We might be onto something.

And I'm sure he got a nice pile of cash for it too. Whine, whine, whine.

Very true regarding Purvis and Wade; I definitely did not mean to short change them at all. All three did excellent work for the movie.
Bring the magic back for Bond 22!

I think he could pull it off. He did a good job on The Black Donnely's. But this would be a last resort tyyp of thing.
I saw that that show was mentioned as being from the writer of Crash. Worth checking out?
