Casino Royale had the 2nd highest critical rating of any movie released in 2006 and was the 4th biggest blockbuster on the planet.

Well, I guess CR had the highest critical rating of any widely released movie - I don't think THE QUEEN had a wide release last year, at least not in the States, where I imagine it played mostly in small "arthouse" cinemas in Los Angeles, New York and other cities.

In any case, I'm sure Fleming's Bond would think it only right and proper that Her Majesty should come first.

I was surprised Departed won, but more surprised that Mark Wahlberg was even nominated for best supporting actor! He was terrible in that movie, and not so good in any other film he has been in (IMO).

I really hope that they get Seinfeld to host next year. I loved the look he gave when announcing that the tree hugging hippie movie won for best documentary. He was like, "yeah, right". He owns over 100 cars, so I'm sure he thought it was a big joke.

I just saw UNITED 93 (inspired by this thread) after a few weeks of holding off because the subject matter just hit too close.

So, with a night on my own, I decided to check it out.

My heart was thumping for about an hour.

Why did this movie not get any kind of recognition from the awards boards?
